Empiires – Never Enough
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) How would you describe the sound of Empiires?
DW: Modern rock/metal that you can connect with.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
DW: Van Halen, Shinedown, Tool, Metallica
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Never Enough.”
DW: it’s the story of how addictive relationships are, even when they’re bad.
Q) I think everyone can relate to a bad breakup and having to walk away. Is that what you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
DW: Yes. We’ve been in relationship situations that aren’t good for us, but probably stayed too long.
Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?
DW: It has some dark looking themes, just like the song. There were a lot of ideas, but this was the best way to do it without becoming too complicated.
Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
DW: It can start with music or lyrical ideas. From there, you’re looking for the best way to complement the pieces you have as they come together.
Q) How much of a say does the band have in the production of your music?
DW: We’re totally involved in the process. We have a great relationship with the record producer, Alex Gerst. He totally understands what we’re trying to do, and we all work together really well.
Q) With this track out now, will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?
DW: We’re thinking that we’re going to do a compilation of all the singles and call that a full-length record at some point. We have seven singles now. Maybe when we get to nine or ten, we’ll do it!
Q) The band has recently played throughout Texas, but where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
DW: There are so many great venues and people in Texas for live music. I would say our hometown of Dallas because of all of the family and friends.
Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?
DW: Any of our influences would be a dream come true. Mostly, would like to continue working with my band mates!
Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
DW: That changes on a daily basis! Probably too many to list here, but there’s a lot of great new music out there!
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thanks to everyone that checked out our music. We truly appreciate that people will take the time to listen!
