Erin Karplunk – Northern Star
Q) What are some of your most recent projects?
A) One recent project is “Eve’s Christmas” and there is a new television series called “Godiva’s.”
Q) Why did you decide to get into acting?
A) It was kind of an accident. I accidentally got accepted to a university’s theater program and decided to try it anyway. I went and did the program and after the end of the four years decided I wanted to be an actor.
Q) How did you hear about your role on the show “Godiva’s” and what was your audition like?
A) I originally went out for a different character and it was just the worst audition ever. They brought me back in for “Kate” three weeks later. They had twenty-minute auditions so you had a good chunk of time to work through the scenes with the directors and producers. The reading was excellent and it was just a fun audition.
Q) What was it like on the set of “Godiva’s”?
A) We have a lot of fun working on “Godiva’s.” We’re all friends from Vancouver so we just have a lot of fun and work hard.
Q) What show would you most like to appear on in the future?
A) I would love to be on “Da Vinci’s Inquest.” I just think the writing is excellent and the acting is outstanding. It’s a Canadian show that is set in Vancouver and I have friends that work on it and they have a great time.
Q) Who do you look up to in the entertainment field?
A) I really admire a local actress named Sarah Jane Redman and I just love watching her work. We go to the same acting school, as well.
Q) How were you lucky enough to be hand picked by James Cameron for your role on the show “Dark Angel”?
A) I was extraordinarily lucky. Again, it’s one of those things where you go into the audition. He wasn’t in the room so we just did it on tape. I didn’t think I would get the part and ended up getting a call from my agent and was excited about it. I was very lucky and he was great to work with and it was a lot of fun.
Q) You also started in the TV movie I Want to Marry Ryan Banks. What was it like to work with Jason Priestly?
A) Jason is awesome. He’s a real professional, but he is also very laid back. He made everyone feel comfortable on set and he’s a lot of fun. He’s like a jokester.
Q) What was it about “Jeremiah” that made you want to be a part of the show?
A) Honestly, it was a matter of getting an audition, going in and getting the part. That was one of my first bigger roles and I had a lot of fun doing it.
Q) What has been your favorite project to work on?
A) I would have to say “Godiva’s,” just because of the character I get to play is very well rounded. The show has comedy and drama and it is a thrill to be able to do that, especially in Vancouver. My character makes mistakes all the time and is constantly learning about herself and trying to improve herself. The writing is excellent and we work with really good dialogue. I’m really lucky to work with the cast and the crew.
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) In my spare time I like to hang out with my friends and I like to say I do a lot of skiing and snowboarding. I like to travel as much as I can and visit family and like reading, as well.
Q) The holidays just passed. How did you celebrate?
A) I always go to home to Jasper National Park and hang out with my mom, my dad and my brother.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) I hope you enjoy the shows! Thanks for watching!
