Everleigh McDonell – The Time Traveler’s Wife
By: Lisa Steinberg
Q) What initially made you want to audition to be a part of the series “The Time Traveler’s Wife?”
A) I really didn’t know much about the book, but I knew my mom loved it. I got to learn more about the character of Clare Abshire, and I loved that she was fun and adventurous. Also, she saw a time traveler and I’m pretty sure no other kids get to see a time traveler! Especially when they’re six years old!
Q) How was your character Clare Abshire originally described to you?
A) Clare Abshire was described as curious, and a bit fiery. Her hair is a big part of her and is what makes Clare, Clare.
Q) Did you and Rose Leslie chat much about the role in order for her to bring the adult Clare to life?
A) We didn’t chat too much because I only got to see her a few times since we filmed at different times and were playing the same character. I think she maybe saw some of the way I talked, like the time I got to say the bad word because we said it the same way. We also ran the same. She’s really amazing on her own.
Q) What did you find the most challenging aspect of your portrayal of Clare?
A) The most challenging part of being Clare was the running, but I still had fun. I had to be alone in the forest and normally I would be a bit nervous alone in the forest. Clare felt like she could do anything in the world, but I would be scared of bugs. Clare would climb rocks and I normally wouldn’t do all of that because I would hurt myself and fall but being able to do it as Clare was pretty cool.
Q) This is such a beautiful, dramatic role for you. What were some of your most memorable moments or favorite moments from filming “The Time Traveler’s Wife?”
A) My favorite moment has to be when I got to throw pretzels at Theo James while filming a scene. We got to play games and have a food fight, which was fun. Working with him was awesome because he is funny. One time, we got to film a scene and pretend it was raining. There was a hose and they had to sprinkle water on us to make it look like it actually was raining. They made it rain inside the set.
Q) We’re just a few episodes into the show, but since you are a part of social media, what kind of fan feedback have you already been receiving to it?
A) Well, sometimes my mom shows me things from Instagram, but I don’t run that page. She shows me when fans post cool stuff from other countries.
Q) What do you think it is about the series that has made it such a fast fan favorite?
A) I think it’s because it has a lot of action, especially the action that Theo has to do! Wow, that is impressive. And it’s also very romantic. After the pandemic, there wasn’t much happening, and we just needed love. We needed something good to watch!
Q) What are the other recent projects that you have been busy working on?
A) I have been auditioning, and I’m up for a role but I know there are a lot of kids auditioning and one of them might get it. If another kid gets it, it’s okay because there’s always the next one that I can get…but I do really want this one right now!
Q) We’d be remiss if we didn’t mention how much we loved you on “Good Girls.” What did you take away from your time working on that show?
A) Thank you! I loved playing Jane Boland. I feel happy about all of the years that I spent with everyone on “Good Girls.” Everyone who worked there was so nice. I was so sad when the show was canceled because I didn’t even get to say goodbye. I just wanted to say goodbye to everyone so bad! There was no going back, and it was a bad surprise.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and the work you do?
A) I would like to say thank you so much. I think you guys are all super nice and kind. I’m so happy that I’ve gotten this far in acting because I love it, and everything to do with acting. I would really love to do a movie and a voiceover job. Thank you for all the support!
