FALSET – Lullabies

Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Modern, loud, yet dynamic Rock with catchy melodies and riffs.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) It depends on who you’re asking. Zach [Copeland] would say Pearl Jam and early grunge, Riley [Fields] would say some band no one’s ever heard of and I’m all over the place really…I grew up listening to System of a Down, Dream Theater, Periphery, Northlane, Architects and Muse just to name a few.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Lullabies.”

A) We live in a world today where social media truly feels like our primary source of communication. The person that people see you as is often the result of how we paint ourselves on social media. For such a transparent and simulated medium, social media has become very much a real and almost physical entity in our lives that feels just as real and prominent as anything else in life. The first line of the verse, “Everybody’s keeping score,” stems from seeing everyone on social media observe and keep track of each other almost in a competitive sort of way. The opening line of the chorus, “Sing me your lullabies, wash away all my pain tonight” suggests the idea and thought of what it would feel like to go back to basics – to live in a world where nobody is “keeping score,” nobody is watching your every move and judging you. Yet there is no winning here – if you are active on social media, you are being judged, if you aren’t active on social media, you are “living in the dark.”

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I think it’s a couple things. One being the lyrics are relatable. Not too vague but vague enough where it can be applied to many people’s lives and what they are personally going through. Also, I think the catchy melodies and hooks are very fun to listen to and leave you wanting more.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) It depends on the inspiration before starting a song. Sometimes it can start with a melody, lyric or phrase. Other times it can start with a musical line – guitar, bass or drums.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

It all starts with Zach though being the main composer and then I come in and write the drums, work on the arrangement, alter/add to the guitar and bass riffs and production.

Q) Your debut album We Follow or Lead the Way came out in 2020. Will there be another full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) Friday, June 10, 2022 our new album Monarch comes out via Megaforce Records and The Orchard. This album is the best collection of songs we’ve written to date, and I can’t wait for everyone to hear this work. We have four singles coming out beforehand.

Q) You’ve been out touring Canada recently. Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) Quebec City had this special energy about it…I’ve loved every crowd and show we’ve played, but QC is something special…It’s like they are so grateful and happy just to be there listening to live music. Gotta love it.

Q) What can fans expect from a live FALSET performance?

A) The best band in the world performing right in front of their eyes.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I was recently introduced to a band called BRKN LOVE when they opened for Big Wreck at Drake’s new venue History in our “hometown” Toronto, ON. These guys have great songs, riffs and melodies. It’s easy to find a song you like, but to find a band or artist that has multiple of them is rare. These guys are incapable of writing a bad song. I hope to play a show with them some day. I’m just going to put that out into the universe right now.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) At the end of the day, this is a business just like anything else and we want to succeed. In order to do so, we need to reach as many eyes as possible, we’d be crazy to not utilize social media.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I can’t thank you enough if you’re a supporter and listen to FALSET…We love you and want you to know, this new album Monarch is for you. THANK YOU.
