Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Always tough to do! Folk leaning Indie-Rock, singer-songwriter type stuff I suppose!

Q) Who are your Top 3 musical influences?

A) Kings of Leon, Leif Vollebekk and The Beatles.

Q) Tell us the story behind creating your current single “Rootin’ For Ya.”

A) I wrote this song at my kitchen table on an old classical guitar. I believe that this is the first song I’ve released that I’ve recorded completely on my own. I always record a lot of my records in my home studio, but this one was built from the ground up at home. Drum machine, my roommate’s old Yamaha synth. It was a lot of fun.

Q) Since its release, what has been the overall reaction from fans and listeners to the song?

A) I think people are digging it which feels great! It’s been a live favorite leading up to the release so it’s nice to be able to share the recorded version!

Q) What is your typical songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Usually, I find something that’s inspiring on the guitar and then a melody will follow… when that’s in place I go searching for words.

Q) “Rootin’ For Ya” and prior single “Style” are off of your upcoming album Rootin’ For Ya, which is due for a May 2024 release. Which song off of the album was your favorite to write and record?

A) Style was up there for sure. It was one of four songs that we recorded live off the floor, a song called “Somehow I Forgot” is also a fav, excited to be able to share that one soon!

Q) Is there a song(s) off the album you’re looking forward to performing live?

A) The uptempo ones have been really fun! “Somehow I Forgot” and a song called “Don’t You Ever Wish.” We’ve also been enjoying playing an instrumental that is on the record.

Q) When you released “Style” you also had the chance to do a month-long residency with special guests at The Basement in Nashville, TN. How did the opportunity for the residency come about and how did those shows help prepare you for the upcoming shows you have next month when you will be performing with Bendigo Fletcher?

A) Yeah, our time in Nashville was fun! We sold out our Nashville show at the Basement last spring and ended up asking if they would consider having us for a month of weekly shows. The highlight of that month for me was getting to jam and rehearse everyday together as a band, it felt like being on summer holidays in high school and playing music everyday with my high school band. It’s definitely resulted in a hot show for this upcoming tour!

Q) What do you hope lingers with audiences that explore the album Rootin’ For Ya?

A) Hmm, I’m not totally sure. I think that it’s a deep record that contains a few different moods and vibes throughout, I’m excited for fans to get to explore the world.

Q) In addition to a new album, this past December you had the opportunity to work on a new collaborative project named Dweller with your friends Kris Ulrich, Georgia Harmer and Julian Psihogios. How did the collaboration come about and are there any plans to release additional music in the future with this collaboration?

A) Dweller is a fun project that came to life because of a mutual admiration for each other and desire to create something that belonged to all of us equally. The four of us have collaborated a lot in all of our respective projects but it was really cool to build something from the ground up!

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Thank you for coming along for the ride. [smiles]
