Firing All Cylinders – Never Broken
By: Jamie Steinberg
Q) How would you describe your sound?
A) Our band has a hard rock/heavy metal sound from influences from both the past and present.
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) Oh man where to start? We all listen to a wide range of music, so it’s hard to narrow it down to a few. Motley Crue, Megadeth, Avenged Sevenfold, Beartooth, Motionless in White and Ozzy/Sabbath are just a few names that get thrown around during our practices.
Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Never Broken.” What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?
A) In a nutshell, the song is about rising above when it seems like the world is against you. Everyone has those days, especially nowadays in the world of COVID 19. Having said that, different people may relate to it differently. Ultimately, the song is meant to spark positivity.
Q) Matthew Upton directed the video for the song. How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?
A) Some of the imagery represents living in a world full of fake people. That was the reason we choose to use mannequins in some of the show. Our goal was really to just make a high energy rock video.
Q) The song was created at Wolfe Studios. How did you shake off a long day in the studio?
A) We have been working with Brandon [Wolfe] and Jeremy [Wolfe] for years now and we have become great friends so it’s easy to just kind of kick back after recording. We usually have some laughs while listening to Disney ride soundtracks lol.
Q) What is your songwriting process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?
A) It different from song to song really. We usually think of an overall theme, get a melody going and start feeling out a direction for the song. Then, we start working towards a final product making small adjustments along the way. That’s what works for us.
Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?
A)It’s a group effort on every song. We are always writing new riffs and lyrical ideas. A lot of the time we just spin-off our best ideas and go from there.
Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?
A) “Never Broken” was featured on our last album Weaponized that came out almost a year ago. We haven’t fully decided on anything yet be we are always writing and looking to the future.
Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?
A) There are a few on the list. The Glass House in Pomona, California is always a great experience. We also have had an amazing show in Rhode Island at the Fete Music Hall. Honestly though we have a good time anywhere there is an audience with a lot of energy.
Q) With concerts currently on pause, have you all considered doing some live streaming to get more attention on this new single?
A) We have talked about it, but livestreams can’t replace the energy of playing in front of a real crowd. We have mostly been working hard preparing for when everything lets up and we can hit the stage again.
Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?
A) We are kinda all on an Avatar binge right now. Love that band!
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) Thank you!!! Your support means the world to us and we hope to see you guys again when everything opens back up.
