The search for Fatima (Pegah Ghafoori) opens in episode 9. Elias (Corteon Moore) refuses to leave the woods until Fatima is found. In their search, Boyd (Harold Perrineau) is overcome with pain and cannot continue on. Elias guides Boyd back to the police station. He attempts to go on as usual and seeing his son’s concern, Boyd says they need to have a talk.

In her hidden room, Fatima sits awaiting Elgin’s (Nathan D. Simmons) return. She asks him to let her go and he insists she isn’t a prisoner and he is only trying to help her. She tries to reason with Elgin that she has seen the ghost too and what will happen won’t be good. Elgin tells her the bad things that have happened are due to the baby being scared and her not properly feeding the baby. She refuses to drink the blood, and Elgin holds it up to her face. She is overwhelmed with the scent and begins to chug the jar.

Back at the church, Tabitha (Catalina Sandino Moreno), Victor (Scott McCord) and Sara (Avery Konard)  attempt to talk through Victor’s memory in the basement. He is overwhelmed with what he remembered and goes to leave. As he does, Tabitha grabs his arm and has a new sensation. Before she can process it, Kenny (Ricky He) retrieves her to check on Julie (Hannah Cheramy) after her mishap in the ruins. In the medical center, Julie describes her experience as a dream. Jim (Eion Bailey) discovers Julie was alone with Randall (AJ Simmons) and goes to confront him. Rather than take the angered father route, he reasons his concern with Randall who tells him he was teaching her how to drive. Randall says he told Julie not to go back out there because it felt wrong. As Jim goes to leave, Randall encourages him to teach Julie to drive. It would give them a sense of normalcy within their circumstances.

Jim and Tabitha have a heart to heart moment. He puts his pride aside and finally reassures her that he will stop second guessing her. Tabitha states she thinks Julie is holding something back from them.

Elias is upset that others have known about his father’s health issues before him. Boyd confides that things have slowly been getting worse. Boyd wonders if what is happening to Fatima is his fault and another ploy of the creatures. At that moment, the creatures begin to taunt Boyd and Elias rushes to move him away from the window.

Sara still tries to fix the snowman knick knack she keeps as a reminder of her brother. She is overcome with guilt and emotion as she is taunted by the voices of the town once more. In season one, we know these voices tried to use her to hurt Ethan (Simon Webster).

Elgin returns to Fatima who is trying to break a sharp edge of the bed to use as a weapon. We see a glimpse of her growing belly, showing feeding on the blood was helpful. She hides the weapon just as Elgin opens the door. She lures him over by asking for help and cuts him before making a run for it. Unfortunately, Elgin is able to overpower her once more.

At the police station, Boyd and Elias argue again about searching for Fatima. Sara rushes in as they are and says she has something to say that cannot wait. She first asks if Fatima is okay. When she is met with silence, she further questions if she is missing. She opens up to Boyd about hearing the voices again and tells them Fatima didn’t leave on her own and someone took her. She says the voices were laughing because they know she won’t be found in time.

Boyd goes to Donna (Elizabeth Saunders) to attempt to plead Fatima’s case once more but Donna stops him. She says she already decided not to say anything knowing what Fatima means to people. She was always a bright light and positive symbol and she wouldn’t want to ruin that perception. Fatima means a lot to Donna and her inner struggle with this decision can be seen. He tells Donna she’s gone and tells her what the voices told Sara. Donna is filled with rage and tells Boyd to call a town meeting.

Donna and Boyd gather the people of the town outside of the diner. They tell everyone Fatima is missing and they call for a search party. People wonder how they know what they do, and Boyd tells them the truth. The town wants them to know she is alone and afraid. Boyd gives a powerful speech to fill everyone with determination to find Fatima. The plan is for people to pair up and search every inch of the town for her. Boyd tells Elias they should split up knowing it would be better for them to find her. Elgin offers to go searching with Elias. In her room, Fatima appears to be in pain  and her belly has grown even more. Falling to the ground, Fatima finds a hidden door on the floor.

Donna and the female officer are paired up and have a moment of tension. Donna says when this is over, they will have a talk about the town and she will help her understand more but now their focus needs to be Fatima. Boyd and Kenny are paired up and on their hunt, they have a much needed talk. Boyd acknowledges the wrong he’s done and apologizes before telling him his Parkinsons is getting worse. He wants Kenny to be the one to step up and take his place if something happens to Boyd. Elgin and Elias walk the forest searching when Elias confides in how his mother died to him. He says it’s important to find Fatima because he doesn’t want to go through that pain again. Jim and Ethan return to their flipped RV, and have a father to son talk. As they finish their conversation, the radio taunts them with ‘Thomas’ once more. Julie and Tabitha also have a talk about Julie’s fears with Fatima missing. She opens up to her mom about her experience in the ruins. She tells her mom she doesn’t think she was dreaming. As the pair hug, Tabitha sees one of the children who motions for them to follow her.

Victor goes to chop down the tree, and the boy in white appears to talk to him. The boy claims he tried to help in the past and thinks the people of the town need to learn for themselves. Victor begs for the boy’s help and all he tells him is not to cut down the tree before disappearing again.

Elgin tells Elias about his communication with something here. He tries to reason that the baby might be a good thing and attempts to subtly tell Elias that Fatima is okay. Meanwhile, she has uncovered more of the door on the ground and while in pain tries to open it before the ghostly woman appears to her. She holds her hand over her mouth to silence her. The ghost child leads Julie and Tabitha to where Fatima is. As Tabitha goes to check, she is overcome with a strange feeling. She goes down the stairs to find Victor. After hugging him, she gets a vision of his mother and is overwhelmed. She runs up for air and continues to see his mother’s memories of the night she was killed.
