Fuller House – Say Yes to the Dress
By: Gladys Luna
Kimmy (Andrea Barber) has gathered the whole family in order to let them know about her plans for Steve (Scott Weinger) and CJ’S (Virginia Williams) wedding. She asks them if they have already received the information that Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) has sent them about the wedding and when they confirm they didn’t, Steph immediately texts them all and solves the issue.
Also, it is karaoke night at the Fullers so everyone gets ready for their performance, which they all seem to take it very seriously. Fernando (Juan Pablo Di Pace) has cheated and taken Matt´s (John Brotherton) place instead so he is the first one to sing. He calls for his “Fernandettes,” played by Kimmy and Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas) and starts to perform “Living La Vida Loca” just the same way Ricky Martin did. A backdrop is released and he begins the show and Jimmy decides to join them as well. Before he finishes, Gia (Marla Sokoloff) walks in with her daughter Rocki (Landry Bender) who is there to do a school project with Jackson (Michael Campion). The two of them are in shock seeing the scene before them. After Fernando wraps his musical number, Gia addresses to him as “Zorro,” a man she remembers that danced for her at a party months ago. Kimmy looks surprised and questions him about it and he confesses he did it, but his name was actually “Zarro.”
The next in line is DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) who starts to perform “Summer Nights” and when Steve recognizes it, he just jumps and joins her. Fernando and Jimmy play the chorus part for Steve while Stephanie, Kimmy and Ramona play the chorus for DJ. Matt and CJ watch them from the couch and don’t seem to be so comfortable with it. When the song ends, the two exs are brought back to reality and try to make it up to their partners, but they are still not happy about what they just witnessed.
In the meantime, Jackson and Ramona keep studying and confess their dislike for each other when Max (Elias Harger) walks in followed by Kimmy, Stephanie and DJ. The three women kiss him goodnight while Rocki watches them. She questions them if that´s what they do every night and they confirm they do. The girl believes that Max is dying as she is surprised to see such proof of love for him, but Jackson says that the kid is just a big baby. Max asks Jackson to kiss him goodnight as well as he always does, but his older brother refuses to do it and tells Rocki that he is not like that. Right at that moment, Gia texts Stephanie and asks her if Rocki can spend the night with them and the women agree. As they are about to walk Rocki to Ramona´s bedroom, the girl stops in her tracks and asks them if the three of them will walk her to the room and they confirm that the “she wolves” always travel in pack, ending said confirmation with their usual howl.
The next morning, Stephanie is reading the newspaper when she finds out that the movie that used her song as part of their soundtrack threw a big premiere and she wasn’t invited. The family tries to diminish it in order to make her feel good, but then Max realizes that some big stars have been invited as well. So, Stephanie goes back to feeling sad about being dismissed from the event. When Jimmy sees how sad she looks, he decides to do something about it so he asks her to meet him in the living room at 8pm that day.
At the Fullers, Jackson enters the kitchen and requests the family to keep their “love display” at bay while Rocki is there. Max is still upset at him for not giving him his kiss goodnight, which turned into making the little boy lose some sleep. Ramona walks in the kitchen followed by Rocki who is wearing pink PJs that she borrowed from the other girl. She states that she feels as though a cotton candy machine attacked her. Jackson attempts to make fun of her and even takes a picture, but Rocki threatens him with making him disappear if the world if he ever posts it.
On the other side of the city, Steve is at his suit fitting when DJ walks in asking him about the reason he called her saying it was an emergency and the man confesses her that he doesn’t know which tie he should use or if he should wear a top hat or not. DJ helps him to make his decision and they recall last night at karaoke and they confess to each other that their respective partners didn’t feel quite comfortable with them singing together. Apparently, CJ told Steve that she felt weird and Matt felt so left out that he spent the whole morning trying to find something that he and DJ can share like a weird handshake he has created. Berta (Natalija Nogulich), the store owner, walks in carrying a beautiful dress that immediately draws DJ´s attention. The woman encourages the girl to try it on so DJ does.
Back to the Fullers, Ramona is dancing with Tommy (Dashiell Messitt/Fox Messitt) while Rocki watches them in a very awkward way. Jimmy asks for his niece’s help to do something in the living room so Rocki is left with the baby alone. The kid asks her for a cookie and she starts to tickle him calling herself the “tickle monster. Jackson sees her and mocks her again. She warns him that if he keeps laughing at her she will punch him, but the young man doesn’t believe her until she finally does.
Back to the store, DJ finally tries on the drees and Steve is marveled at her. Berta asks them to pose for a photo thinking they are a couple. They try to explain the misunderstanding to her, but the woman doesn’t care; she takes the picture and walks away. DJ is curious about the dress price so she asks for it and when Steve looks at the tag, he finds out that the dress belongs to CJ.
Both of them panic about it and when DJ tries to open the fitting room door to take it off before CJ shows up for her fitting, she sees Berta smoking inside and is refusing to leave until she finishes her cigarette. They are running out of time as CJ has just arrived so Steve asks her to play with the mannequin while he tries to distract her. When CJ walks in, she is surprised to see Steve still there. He attempts to make her leave, but the woman doesn’t seem to give in. DJ keeps changing her pose according to the couple’s moves as an attempt to escape until CJ realizes DJ is trying to escape with her dress on. DJ finally explains how she ended up wearing her dress and asks for her forgiveness. At the end, the two women hug and Steve joins them.
Jimmy brings Stephanie to her home and when he opens the door for her, she sees that a red carpet has been set for her and the whole family except for DJ are there pretending they are photographers. DJ arrives and Matt runs to her and they both perform the very long routine Matt has created and refers to it as “their special thing.” They all get ready to watch the movie where Stephanie´s song is played and then Stephanie seems to be disappointed when only a few seconds of the song are played in a scene right before a car crashes. But then she cheers herself up at seeing how much effort her family put into making her feel better and she is grateful for that. They all confess their love for each other, even Rocki does. Fernando believes it is karaoke time so he starts to sing “Living La Vida Loca” again and then. Gia walks in again stating that they seem to have a “Ricky Martin problem.” They all start to dance the conga and Gia is surprised to see her daughter wearing a pink dress. The girl confesses that she left her in a cult so she had to blend in to survive. As she is about to leave, she threatens Jackson with hurting him if he ever says something about what happened and he assures her that she will be sorry if she says how much his family loves him.
Later that night, Steve shows up at DJ´s and talks to her about what happened earlier that day at the bridal shop. DJ confesses that after he marries CJ their friendship won’t be the same. Sure, they’re still be friends, but not in the same way. He agrees and before he leaves they share a friendly goodbye. When he walks out of the house, a text is sent to him with the picture that Berta took of him and DJ. DJ receives the same picture and they both remain at their side of the door wearing a sad smile.
