Fuller House – Wedding or Not Here We Come
By: Gladys Luna
DJ (Candace Cameron Bure) is getting ready for her trip to Japan to attend Steve’s (Scott Weinger) wedding. The woman is making sure that her two sons, Max (Elias Harger) and Jackson (Michael Campion), are packing everything correctly and that is how she finds out that Jackson has packed his clothes that also happened to be dirty in a garbage bag while Max has everything neatly packed and is ready to leave. Max expresses his desire of changing his passport photo as he dislikes the one that is in it.
In the meantime, Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and Tommy (Dashiell Messitt/Fox Messitt) are in the kitchen when Kimmy (Andrea Barber) arrives with a list of tasks that she attempts for Stephanie to complete once they arrive to Japan, but Stephanie doesn’t feel in the mood to play any foolish games as she has received the fertility clinic list of possible donors. Kimmy suggests for her to tell Jimmy (Adam Hagenbuch) about it as she is sure her brother loves her and will support her, but Stephanie refuses to drag him into such commitment. Their conversation is interrupted by a very preoccupied DJ looking desperately for something everywhere. When she tells Kimmy and Stephanie that she can’t find her passport, her sister points at her pocket where the passport has been all this time. Both women are sure that DJ is having a hard time trying to process that Steve is getting married, but she denies it. Suddenly, she starts doing random things like putting her passport in the toaster or in the freezer without noticing it as part of being distracted. Stephanie tries to calm her down by telling her that she doesn’t need to be worried as she has a great man by her side. Kimmy suggests for DJ to take a quiz that would help her realize if Steve is the one for her or not just as it helped her to find out that she should marry Fernando (Juan Pablo Di Pace) and even divorce him.
Popko (Isaak Presley) confesses to Ramona (Soni Nicole Bringas) that he will miss her now that she has to go to Japan so he bought a card that it says “Happy 80th Birthday” on the front and wrote a poem for her on the inside where he asks her to give him the chance to see other girls while she is away so he won’t be sad when she comes back. Ramona believes he is just messing with her, but when the guy confirms that what he is asking is true, she tells him how selfish she believes he is and recites a break up poem for him.
Fernando and Max meet at the kitchen and Max is surprised to see Fernando wearing an extremely fancy suit. The man confesses that he is attempting to fly in first class and in order to do so he has to make a good impression, tell a sob story and that would be it. The kid is still amused by Fernando´s trick and gets even more impressed when the man confesses that one of the things he loves most about flying in first class (besides the bigger seats) is the hot fudge chocolate sundae they serve, something that makes the kid to start plotting his way into it as well.
Kimmy meets Jimmy in the living room and he tells her that he is feeling sad so Kimmy believes that the reason is because Stephanie didn’t ask him to be the baby donor. Apparently, the real reason making Jimmy sad was that he burnt a pop tart, but now he is extra sad about the news.
Back in the kitchen, Stephanie, Kimmy and DJ are there and Kimmy is still trying to convince DJ to take the quiz she mentioned earlier that day. Matt (John Brotherton) arrives and the quiz begins. It seems that he fails miserably at every question. He leaves the kitchen to grab something he forgot in his car and that is when Steve makes an appearance and it suddenly seems that he applies correctly to all of the items of the quiz. When he leaves, Matt comes in again and to judge by his actions towards DJ, he seems to have vindicated himself.
Kimmy tells Ramona that she found out through Snapchat that she and Popko have broken up so she wants to comfort her. Ramona doesn’t seem to be so affected by the break up, but Kimmy is so persistent about wanting to soothe her daughter that she ends up pretending to be really sad just to make her mother feel alright.
Max and Fernando meet again in the living room and the man realizes that Max is dressed exactly as him. When he questions the kid about it, the little one lies by saying that he just admires his sense of style which Fernando believes. DJ calls everyone to the front door and they all start leaving the house one by one. Kimmy shows up all dressed in Japanese style and Jimmy seizes the opportunity to ask Stephanie about why she didn’t choose him to be her baby daddy. She tells him that she didn’t want to put that pressure on him and asks him to talk about that some other time. Max waves his goodbyes to Cosmo as Grandpa Nick (John Aprea) is entrusted with taking care of Tommy and the whole family finally leaves.
On the plane, everybody has taken their seats except for Fernando who is sticking to his plan of getting a first class seat. When he sees the flight attendant approaching, he begins to sob and tell him that he is really sad about his Japanese grandmother that is dying. He confesses that the only thing that would make him happy is a seat on first class, but the other man confesses that the one seat left has been taken by a boy that has only a few months left to live. Fernando seems to be confused about it and that is when Max walks in greeting the man. Apparently, the kid had gone one step further than him and stole his seat. Fernando tries to unmask him, but nobody believes him so he is sent to his seat next to some crying babies.
A few moments later Jimmy arrives in a rush asking to stop the plane. Stephanie is surprised to see him there and he tells her that he got a one way ticket only to see her and tell her that he wants to be her baby daddy. And as a proof that he is as good as the other donors, he starts to solve a Rubik cube to show her he is a genius. To prove he is an artist, he plays the flute and also attempts to prove that he can be a notary public. Stephanie tells him that if he is so sure then she wants to try and make a baby with him. Now, the man has to go off the plane as he didn’t buy a way back ticket and he doesn’t want to live in Japan forever.
Sometime later, Matt asks Kimmy to allow him to seat next to Stephanie for a few minutes as he needs to tell her something really important. The woman agrees and goes to sit next to DJ. Matt shows Stephanie an engagement ring and tells her that he wants to propose to DJ as soon as they land, but he wants to know her opinion. She tells him that she is happy for them and she is sure that DJ will say yes.
Kimmy tells DJ that she can´t believe the woman has gone that far and is now on her way to attend to a wedding she never thought she would go to. DJ asks her to stop bothering her. She just had some drinks and wants to listen to Michael Bublé until they arrive to Japan. She puts her headphones on and tries to sleep. Suddenly, Steve arrives and tells Kimmy to switch seats with him so she can try to go and calm Fernando down as he is crying nonstop. A distant sob is heard and Kimmy believes that it comes from a baby, but Steve tells her that the crying actually comes from Fernando. Steve sits next to DJ, but she doesn’t know he is there. She still believes that Kimmy is there and she just can’t take it anymore and starts to tell how she believes the other woman is right – how she can´t confess to Steve her love for him and how she thinks she is losing her soulmate. Steve is listening to her completely in shock, but says nothing about it. Then, we see a mix of images that include Max enjoying his time in the first class seats, Matt holding the engagement ring he bought for DJ, Fernando suffering while a little girl is kicking the back of his seat and Steve drinking whatever he had found while still shocked by the news.
What is waiting ahead for DJ and Steve? Only time would tell. Thank you for joining us on this ride and let’s wait for more “Fuller House” to continue the adventure. ¡Hasta la próxima!
