Interviews
Gavin MacIntosh – The Fosters
Q) Connor has been noticeably absent the past few episodes. Where do we pick up with him?
A) He has been gone the last few episodes. In the finale, you will find out why. You have not seen the end of the conflict between Connor, his dad and Jude.
Q) Was there anything you added to your role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?
A) Because I joined at the pilot stage, I have been able to grow with my role. So, Jude and Connor’s chemistry isn’t scripted. I think that comes from my off-screen relationship with Hayden Byerly who plays Jude.
Q) Your chemistry with Hayden is great on screen! Did it come instantly or did you spend some time to cultivate it?
A) We kind of connected instantly. We liked each other and our acting just meshed onscreen. I consider Hayden to be my closest confidant and friend. I’m really grateful to the show for bringing our families together.
Q) What have been some of your most memorable moments from filming “The Fosters?”
A) The blue nails scene will always be my favorite strong, non-verbal message. But I think when we did the scene with Lena (Sherri Saum) I was able to show emotion about Connor’s feelings.
Q) What is your favorite aspect to portraying Connor?
A) It’s his ability to say “I’m sorry” and mean it and show it in strong ways. The way he cares for Jude, no matter what anyone thinks. They are always coming in as a team going against their peers.
Q) You are a part of social media sites. How is it connecting with fans that way and do you enjoy the instant fan feedback when episodes air?
A) I really love my fans. They are so dedicated to the show and my character. They put so much effort into photos and my fan pages and social media outlets. I’m always amazed by their support and am truly thankful for them.
Q) What do you think it is about “The Fosters” that has made it such a popular show?
A) There are a lot of controversial things happening. The ethnic mix of the Fosters and the biological teenage kids being raised by two lesbians moms. All the conflicts the kids are going through, I think kids can relate to that.
Q) What is your latest guilty pleasure? Is there a band, sport, book, film, etc. that you are really into at the moment?
A) At the moment, for the past year I have been really into skateboarding. I don’t spend too much time outside of my board. But I have been watching “The Bates Motel.” I do love that show.
Q) What else can you tease about the season finale?
A) The scenario between Jude, Conner and Connor’s dad is not finished. There will be a scene that will definitely make fans want 2B of the season to come quicker.
Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?
A) I appreciate you all so much. I’m so grateful for all of you guys. You don’t know how much it means to me to read all your comments and stories. I love you all. You guys are awesome!
