After Freddie’s (Mike Lane) discovery in the prior episode, he approaches Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) with his belief that Woodstone is haunted. While he explains that he has heard ethereal humming sounds and watched items move around Woodstone, alluding to Alberta’s (Danielle Pinnock) singing and Trevor’s (Asher Grodman) ability to move objects. Sam and Jay continue to try and play it off as nonsense, even while Freddie shows proof of Trevor typing on the keyboard. But Pete (Richie Moriarity) comes into the kitchen bringing a bigger problem: Freddie has sold his car, which means he has sold Sasappis’s (Román Zaragoza) girlfriend Jessica (Nichole Sakura).

Sam and Jay head outside where a heartbroken Sasappis stands with Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) and Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long) in front of Freddie’s new car. In order to bring Jessica back, Sam works to convince Jay that they need to purchase Freddie’s old car and park it in the driveway. Somehow the conversation turns to Tony Stark and Sam admits she does not know who he is, leading Jay into an enthusiastic explanation as they head back inside.

Upon heading inside, Freddie shows Sam and Jay his box of ghost hunting gear. In addition to a healthy amount of sage and a gadget to measure electromagnetic frequencies, Freddie boasts about his greatest purchase: the Ghost Trap 2000. After procuring the machine from a Latvian company, the ghosts have a laugh as they believe it is a children’s toy.

Through much searching, Jay eventually tracks down the new owner of Freddie’s old car, a musician named Marco (Jake Cannavale) from the band Pungent Stench. Marco refuses to budge on price, citing that he uses the car to get around to his gigs. Sam comes outside and intervenes by siding with a desperate Jessica and Sasappis…telling Marco that they will buy the car at the price he is offering. Jay tells Sam that his family can never know about this and that Marco needs to throw in a Pungent Stench cd

Inside, Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Trevor, Thorfinn, Isaac, Pete, and Flower (Sheila Carrasco) are crowded around the Ghost Trap 2000. Noticing an Oreo cookie on the top of the contraption, the ghosts decide that one of them must touch the cookie and see if the trap is safe. While the group continually pushes Pete to volunteer touching the machine, he chickens out and Thorfinn mocks him. Pete then tells Thorfinn he should touch it if he’s so brave. Thorfinn agrees and goes to touch the machine, only to get sucked inside. While the ghosts are freaking out over Thorfinn’s sudden absence, Jay comes in and eats the Oreo cookie on the ghost trap.

Sam is speaking with an emotional customer (Alison Lawrence) when Isaac comes to tell her of Thorfinn’s disappearance into the ghost trap. She then cuts the conversation short and runs into the kitchen. Upon entering, she listens to the ghosts and explains to Jay that Thorfinn is now in the trap. As they’re talking, Thorfinn starts talking through the machine and blames Pete for his current predicament. A forgetful Flower asks Hetty what happened to Thorfinn and when she goes to touch the machine herself, she is also sucked in. Sam and Jay realize that they need to talk to Freddie and get his help, despite the way that they mocked his ghost theory in the first place.

Finally reunited, Jessica and Sasappis enjoy their time together in the car once more. Unfortunately for Jessica, she no longer travels as Sam and Jay don’t venture much off the property too much. And when Sasappis regales Jessica with stories of what goes on inside Woodstone, it becomes clear that Jessica feels left out of the loop and trapped on the premises.

Sam and Jay find Freddie and ask him about the ghost trap, only to be met with a rather ruffled Freddie. As he throws their words back at them about mocking his ghost theory, they eventually convince him to call the company in Latvia. Freddie comes in and explains that they need to press the button on the side and hold it for three seconds. Yet when Sam holds the button, a countdown clock pops up. Freddie looks up what the clock is for and it is for evisceration of the ghosts inside of the trap, making him get back on the phone with the company to stop the countdown clock.

When Jay comes in to tell Sam that Freddie is on a 20-minute hold with four minutes left on the countdown clock, the group scrambles for a solution. Inside the trap, Thorfinn shares a sweet moment with Flower…which she tells Thorfinn she appreciates. Jay realizes that the sticker for “2 and under” may mean only two ghosts can be in there or the system overloads, the group realizes another ghost needs to enter the trap. Pete finally decides to take one for the team and be brave enough to touch the machine. Upon entering the trap, Pete finds a kissing Thorfinn and Flower…but the tactic works and the machine overloads. While the ghosts celebrate, Freddie comes in explaining how all they needed to do was turn the trap off and on.

Sasappis relays the story to Jessica, who realizes that they need to talk. While Sasappis is bummed that Jessica can’t be a part of the group inside, Jessica misses the open road. Understanding that their relationship has reached an impasse, Sasappis and Jessica know that they need to end things.

After their time in the ghost trap, Thorfinn tells Pete that he has earned his respect for coming in to help save him. Pete is grateful, even as Thorfinn still pokes fun at him in his own way. Flower also thanks Pete for helping her face her fears, especially since she has now agreed to a date with Thorfinn.

Isaac, Hetty, and Alberta enter the room with a rather upset Freddie, explaining to Sam that Freddie is going to quit. After the many instances of getting fired, losing his girlfriend, mocking him, and pushing him to quit, Freddie is ready to go. Yet as Sam and Jay would like him to stay, Alberta decides to end it and begins singing. The singing freaks Freddie out and he flees Woodstone.

Jay brings Marco back to negotiate selling him back his car. Marco decides to sell him back the car at half price, which Jay reluctantly agrees to if he can keep the Pungent Stench cd. Inside the car, Jessica and Sasappis try to have a heartfelt goodbye….despite Marco entering the car and killing the mood with his metal music. When Jessica leaves once and for all, Hetty and Isaac stand with a heartbroken Sasappis before deciding to head back in the house….leaving him alone.
