Ghosts – Ghostfellas
By: Gladys Luna
We are taken back to the past when Pete (Richie Moriarty) used to work as a travel agent at a business owned by his, then wife, Carol (Caroline Aaron). He used to enjoy giving tours recommendations to the customers and trying to make their whole experience a one to remember. Back to the present, Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) is cooking an Arabiata sauce guided by Pete through Samantha (Rose McIver). The man wishes he could add the sauce to his menu but he feels it won’t go well with his Indian recipes. Sam encourages to do it but Pete opposes to it since it’s a recipe from Carol’s family that she secretly confided in him but then, Sas (Román Zaragoza) reminds him that since she didn’t exactly honor her wedding vows to him, he owes her nothing, something that changes Pete’s mind authorizing Jay to include the recipe in his menu. Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) and Trevor (Asher Grodman) meet at the living room to discuss about how to use their friends’ power alliance on their favor and the first thing she comes with is to use it to get Flower (Sheila Carrasco) to move out of the room they share since she tends to speak a lot during the night when Hetty only wants to rest. Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) and Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) walk by and watch them talking mysteriously so they confront them believing they are getting back together. The duo recalls how toxic they were when they were dating and want to prevent from that to happen again. Hetty and Trevor get all nervous by all of the questioning but assure them that they are just friends. At the restaurant, Carol finds out about what Pete did with her sauce recipe and tries to make him understand that what he did was a terrible mistake but the man does not seem to understand the reason why. All of a sudden, Jay is called by a customer who asks him about the Arabiata and accuses him of having stolen the recipe from his restaurant and demanding to take it off from the menu but Jay challenges him and refuses to do as requested. Carol and Pete watch the whole scene and the woman recognizes the man as her cousin Anthony (Lenny Venito) who, unfortunately for Jay, works for the mafia. Later on, Sam passes the full message from Carol to Jay and lets him know about the danger they are in. Jay feels terribly disappointed and scared about their current situation and leaves the place to go get some fresh air. In the meantime, Pete wonders how that person he used to know is now the head of the mob and then Carol explains that the travel agency they owned and where he used to work at as an agent was all a cover, they used to do some money laundry which makes Pete also disappointed for the way she lied to him all along even after death. Back to the past, Pete recalls how people used to get in there carrying big bags full of money but he did not suspect a thing.
At night, Flower is talking to Hetty while the woman does not know what else to do to get her to leave her alone so, following her plan, she says that as much as she enjoys having her as a roommate, maybe it’s time for her to move in with Thor (Devan Chandler Long) and tries to get into her head by saying that otherwise, their relationship might die slowly if they don’t do it and as expected, Flower decides to follow her suggestion but Hetty makes sure to let her know that she should not say that she got the idea from her. The next day, Jay tells Sam that he went to Anthony’s restaurant, talked to him and promised that he will remove the Arabiata from the menu and everything is good between them now. Unfortunately, later that day, the man shows up at the restaurant in the company of a couple of other two men, Carmine (Louis Mustillo) and Vinnie (Ronnie Marmo) demanding to be given a table for ten. The place is crowded now but they are not really the patient kind so, Sam makes sure to move some customers from a table and give it to them instead.
Trevor is at the TV room when Flower and Thor join him to give him the good news: she is moving in with them. Trevor does not take the news very well mostly because he was not asked about it first so, the couple believes is a good idea to vote and of course, Trevor loses but the man is not naïve and he knows this may come from someone else and Flower ends up confessing that it was Hetty’s ideas but she was asked not to tell. Jay goes back to the mansion and complains to Sam that Anthony and his friends are trying to lead him to a bankrupt since they have been ordering a lot of food and wine and he is sure they are not planning to pay for it but he hopes that they leave soon. Sas walks in and sadly, he’s not bearing good news as he says the he heard that Anthony is planning to come back the next day to the restaurant. Carol is certain that they will keep pushing and pushing until they burn the place to the ground and tells them that this is just the beginning of the end.
Jay and Sam ask for Carol’s help but she refuses claiming that she can’t go against her own family but Pete tells him that he is her family too and that Sam and Jay are his family and reminds her that she owes him for all the time she lied to him while they were together and manages to convince her to give them a hand. Carol tells them that while she was alive, she was a mob accountant and kept every book and she’ll tell them where to find them so they can hand them to the police if necessary. Trevor confronts Hetty about making a move against him by asking Flower to move in with him and Thor; the woman tries to remain nonchalant about the situation and asks him to move in with her if he is so annoyed by the current room settlements but Alberta and Isaac know that won’t end up very well for any of them so, Isaac agrees to give his private quarters to Thor and Flower and become Alberta’s roommate so Trevor can keep his own room separated from Hetty.
Later that day, Anthony shows up at the restaurant again making all sorts of demands but this time, little does he know that Jay has a trick up his sleeve. Both, Sam and Jay tell the mob boss about the books they have and threaten him that if he comes back to the restaurant or anywhere near them, they will take the books to the police leaving him with no choice but to walk away. Pete is still disappointed to having found out that everything in his life was a whole lie but then, Jay shows him a box filled with postcards that his clients used to send him thanking him for all of his recommendations and letting him know that he always went above and beyond trying to do his job. Trevor and Hetty celebrate what they have accomplished so far while Flower listens to everything they are saying and figures out their whole plan but as soon as she does, she forgets how she got there and the topic they were talking about. So typical of Flower!
