Ghosts – The Bachelorette Party
By: Gladys Luna
Thor (Devan Chandler Long), Trevor (Asher Grodman), Sam (Rose McIver) and Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) are in the kitchen talking about how nervous Jay is since a food critic (Joe Lo Truglio) went to his restaurant a few days ago and now he is waiting for the review to be released. Although he tries to deny it, Sam confesses that he even sent Pete (Richie Moriarty) to the critics’ office to spy on him and inform them about the review. As on cue, Pete comes back and let them know that the critic is very delighted with Jay’s food so he has prepared a ravishing review something that makes Jay very happy. Later on, Sam meets with Chris (Deniz Akdeniz), the stripper that she had hired to give a lap dance to Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) one day prior his wedding and who happens to love dinosaurs. It turns out that Alberta’s (Danielle Pinnock) great grandniece will soon get married and wanted to have her bachelorette party at the Mansion something that has Alberta very excited. Chris tells Sam everything he has planned for his presentation while Alberta, Sas (Román Zaragoza), Flower (Sheila Carrasco) and Isaac hear all about it. Right that moment, Alicia (Ashley D. Kelley) shows up wearing her bride-to-be shirt and Chris tries to look the other way since he believes is bad luck for the stripper to see the bride before the wedding. He leaves the mansion promising to come back and Alicia takes the chance to tell Sam how excited she is about her upcoming wedding. She even mentions that she has started to feel Alberta’s presence there and tell Sam how she and her fiancée Derrick (Paul James) met on the subway. Alberta’s is delighted to hear all about it but then she gets uncomfortable when Alicia says that her fiancée is a musician.
At the kitchen, Mark (Tristan D. Lalla) is checking on the stove while Jay tells him about the food critic’s review. When they leave, Trevor confesses to Pete and Thor how he pretended to be one of Jay’s investors and bribed the critic to give a good review to the restaurant something that does not sit well with Pete as he suggests they should tell the truth to Jay but Trevor refuses to do it and decides to go and spy on the bachelorette preparations instead. Alicia’s bridesmaids (Heather Marie Annis), (Golden Madison), (Molly Kidder) and Jazmin (Ashley Blaine Featherson-Jenkins) arrive ready to celebrate; Alberta is still uncomfortable about Derrick’s being a musician and remembers how back in 1919 her then fiancée was also a musician who had left on tour promising to come back to her and never did. Sas tries to make her understand that not all musicians are the same but she refuses to listen. All of a sudden, Derrick shows up to surprise Alicia, carrying some flowers and wishing her to have the time of her life at the party. All of the bridesmaids, including the bride-to-be move to another room but Jazmin is left behind to talk to Derrick and agree to meet him on the weekend something that makes Alberta to believe that he is cheating on his great grandniece. She asks for Sam’s help to tell Alicia what is happening but she refuses saying that she is not comfortable on doing that so, Alberta is forced to find another way to tell her all about the cheating. Sas suggests that maybe he can enter on the woman’s dream and let her know that way.
Jay receives an email from the critic saying that he will send him the review to read it before posting it on his website but there is something in the wording that makes him realize that this review might have come from someone else. Later on, Sam and Jay confront Trevor who confesses what he did alleging that it was a hero move but that only makes Jay disappointed. That night, Alberta and Sas go to Alicia’s room and he enters her dreams; in it, the happy couple are on the subway when suddenly Sas shows up with a guitar singing about the cheating. Sam hears noises and enters the woman’s room to find the other two ghosts standing there and asks them to go away. Right then Alicia wakes up a little surprised to see Sam in it making her to come up with a lame excuse to justify her presence there. The next morning, Alicia goes to Jazmin and tells her about her dream and how it felt so real; it is then when we find out that Jazmin and Derrick are siblings and they had agreed to see each other on the weekend to spend some time together as family. Alberta feels so disappointed of herself mostly when Alicia says that she will cancel the wedding. The singer tells Sam, Sas and Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky) what she did and also confesses that she lied about her story as she was not the one who was abandoned by a musician but the musician who had abandoned the man she loved in order to go and make her dream come true. Since then, she’s been carrying a guilt that she has now put on Alicia and Derrick’s relationship.
Jay meets with the food critic and tells him that he is aware of the bribe and wants him to try his food again and give him a real review. Although at first the critic refuses by saying that he did actually enjoy the food the first time, he agrees on the do over calling Jay one of the most honest guys he’s ever seen. Isaac. Hetty, Alberta and Sas watch Alicia pack all of her stuff while she wonders whether or not to cancel the wedding. The woman asks for a sign and all of a sudden, she starts to hear Alberta humming a song which she takes as a confirmation to continue with her wedding plans and even sings along with her great grand aunt. It seems that Alberta has saved the day!
Next, Sam, Alberta, Flower, Isaac and Hetty are waiting outside the property; Sam appears to be really excited to show them what is about to happen. Alicia and her bridesmaids come out and then, Sam plays a song on the speaker and Chris starts descending from the sky on a parachute but unfortunately for him, things do not go as planned as he ends up crashing against Jay’s restaurant. He gets up saying everything is alright but when he realizes that he can actually see and talk to the ghosts, he confirms that things might have changed for him.
