Nigel (John Hartman) and Isaac (Brandon Scott Jones) stumble across Thorfinn (Devan Chandler Long), who is watching Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) offer an experience package to their guests. Calling the experience “Bait to Plate,” guests catch fish in the lake for their dinner later. However, “Bait to Plate” goes awry when one of the guests (Melissa Carter) manages to pull a human skull out of the lake. While Jay is not surprised at this turn of events, Thorfinn notes that this may be the end of the guest experience.

With a confirmation from the coroner, Sam (Rose McIver) tells Hetty (Rebecca Wisocky), Sasappis (Román Zaragoza), Alberta (Danielle Pinnock) and Trevor (Asher Grodman) that the skull recovered belongs to none other than Trevor. As Hetty contemplates whether to congratulate or offer condolences on the matter, Flower (Sheila Carrasco) announces the arrival of an older couple have a debate over the best bagels in Manhattan. Upon further listening, Trevor realizes that his parents have arrived at Woodstone.

Showing a newfound interest in ant-watching, Pete (Richie Moriarity) joins Nigel and Thorfinn in their weekly shared activity. Feeling left out and quite weirded out by the constant staring from Nigel’s shack-mate Jenkins (Christian Daoust), Isaac pushes Nigel to leave and continue their walk. Once Nigel and Isaac leave, Pete comments on how happy he iwith their relationship. This prompts Jenkins to spill about a kiss he shared with Nigel when he anIsaac were briefly broken up around Christmas.

Inside Woodstone is a sort of reunion as Trevor’s parents Esther (Laraine Newman) and Lenny (Chip Zien) sit down with Sam and Jay…and, of course, the ghostsTrevor helps Sam by providing questions to ask them, from the whereabouts of his brother Jeremy to a strange obsession with Mel Gibson. Upon asking about whether they still live in his childhood home, Esther and Lenny explain that they divorced after Trevor’s death and only Estheremains in the house. This news crushes Trevor and he believes that his death caused their uncoupling.

After Jenkins spilling the juicy gossip about Nigel, Pete shares the information with Hetty, Alberta, and Flower. They debate whether Isaac should know that Nigel cheated on him. Learning of his wife’s infidelity in death, Pete feels this info will hurt Isaac. But as Isaac overhears his name, Flower ends up disclosing information about Nigel’s dalliance with Jenkins.

Meanwhile, a now-bummed Trevor does not know how to process the divorce of his parents or that Mel Gibson is a monster. After Sam tries to offer sympathy and her own experience coming from a divorced family, Trevor proposes that they Parent Trap his parents and bring them back together. By having a memorial and finding ways to push his parents together, Trevor hopes to reignite their spark. After some strong convincing from Sam, we see Jay gets on board with the plan.

At first “Operation Parent Trap” has a bit of a slow start, but not to worry! With Trevor giving Sam tips on how to get his parents into the mood, Esther and Lenny start to reminisce on happier times with one another. Trevor and the other ghosts are pleased, especially Flower who assumes their coupling will mean Trevor continues to exist. Unfortunately, Lenny ends up derailing the plan when he takes a call during his time with Esther.

Deciding to confront Nigel, Isaac brings up what he found out about Nigel and Jenkins. Nigel immediately reminds Isaac that they were broken up at the time. Upset and hurt by Nigel’s confession, Isaac declare they are done and leaves Nigel in the shack. Bummed and in need of advice, Isaac turns to Alberta, Sasappis, Pete, Thorfinn and basement ghost Nancy (Betsy Sodaro). Nancy interjects along with Alberta, where they suggest finding someone new to get over Nigel. With Jenkins not being an option, Thorfinn offers Isaac the chance to talk with a gay Puritan that resides at the Farnsby residence.

With their operation failing, Trevor finds Sam to explain their current plight. While Jay thinks that they should take the loss, Sam takes a page out of “Parent Trap” and tells Trevor to sneak into his mother’s room to send a text to his dad. Appealing to Trevor’s sense of perversion, he agrees to Sam’s plan….and it works!

The next day at the memorial Trevor tells Sam he was able to execute the plan. Unfortunately for Trevor, Alberta, Flower, Sasappis, Hetty, and even Nancy all confirm with him that they saw his parents get it on last night. Trevor is disgusted, but not for long as his brother Jeremy secured one last wish in death: booking Tara Reid (herself) via the Pop-In app for his memorial.

Ultimately deciding to meet Thorfinn’s friend George (Chris Eckert), Isaac agrees to a window meeting. However, Isaac comes to find that George has strayed from his Puritan ways and has become a bit of a horndog. While trying to keep the conversation interesting like he does with Nigel, Isaac is turned off by George’s lewd advances and decides to abandon the conversation.

Downstairs Trevor’s memorial is in full swing. Esther and Lenny share sweet, touching moments about Trevor…until Tara Reid interrupts. Aside from saying a few words about the Pop-In app and adding in some blanket statements about Trevor, she reveals that Lenny slipped her a business card. Disgusted by his behavior at the memorial, Esther storms out.

Isaac finds Nigel and apologizes to him, admitting that their relationship is special to him. While Nigel brings up the Puritan ghost in a rather biting tone, Isaac admits his faults and then asks Nigel to move out of the shack and move into Woodstone. Nigel agrees, especially after learning about the potential of roaches in the library.

After a disastrous memorial, Lenny and Esther continue to argue over Lenny’s philandering ways and work obsession. While Sam continues trying to help Trevor with his plan, Lenny and Esther then turn to her and wonder why she’s so invested in what happens to them. As Sam finds a way to convey Trevor’s possible guilt from beyond if he knew his death caused the end of their marriage, Lenny and Esther tell Sam that their issues came way before Trevor’s death and that he was the best thing that ever happened to them. He had no hand in their divorce. Accepting their answer and wishing he could hug his parents, Alberta steps in and gives Trevor a hug.

Later, Sam shares her fears to Jay about their relationship. Jay assures her they will last and won’t be empty-nesters, considering the ghosts are like their kids. Tara Reid comes to say goodbye to Sam and Jay. When she turns to leave, Sam hears a thump and immediately heads out into the hallway. There, she stops Tara Reid from falling over a vase and down the stairs….Trevor’s plan to bring Tara Reid into the afterlife has been thwarted.
