Abi (Sarah Power) and Cassie (Catherine Belle) discuss about the progressive dinner they will have and think it is a good opportunity for properly introducing Joy (Katherine Barrell) to their closest friends. Joy walks right in with a diary in hand saying that reading Elizabeth Merriwick’s diary gave her an idea of something interesting for them to do. Cassie already knows what she is about to suggest and says that she would love to make “dream candles.” They explain to Abi that the purpose of it is to etch their dream into the wick tap and let the wax set. Once the candle gets burned down, it is said their dream will come true.

Martha (Catherine Disher) meets with her friend Debbie (Andrea Davis), who happens to have an advice column called “Dear Debbie.” Debbie explains that she has to cancel the cruise she had planned on going to with her husband as a way to punish him for not helping enough around the house. Martha gives her a card of the Middleton’s handyman so he can help her with what she needs to be fixed.

Sam (James Denton) tells Cassie that Nick is getting ready for his interview with her, Joy and Abi. He is also surprised that his son has showed up to do the interview in person when he could have done it over the phone. Cassie takes the opportunity to inform Sam that given that Grace and Nick (Rhys Matthew Bond) are no longer around the house, she has found herself with a lot of time in her hands. Therefore, she decided to enroll in a drawing class at the Middleton Art Studio. Sam mocks her drawing skills a bit, but supports her nonetheless. Sometime later Nick meets with the Merriwick women and finds it to be surprising how similar they are. They share a very entertaining conversation, but then the guy’s face shifts into concern when he receives an email notification on his phone saying that his chance of approving his time in his Physics course is at risk. The mood change doesn’t go unnoticed by Cassie who tries to make sure that everything is alright with him, but he lies and pretends nothing happens.

Debbie meets with Martha again and thanks her for her recommendation. She is now able to go on vacation, but is concerned about her column. She has no one to replace her and Martha takes the chance to offer herself as a volunteer. Cassie, Abi and Joy are preparing their candles when all of a sudden they find Elizabeth’s candle that has never been lit. They decide to light it on in order to figure out what her dream was about. Later that day Joy meets Martha at her office and is surprised to find Carter (Jason Diaz) there. Joy explains that they have already met and tells her about their fight over the clock that turns out Carter has given to Martha. The Mayor informs Joy that she just hired him as her head carpenter and they will be working together.

At the bistro Stephanie (Kylee Evans) seems to be swamped with work and is surprised by Wes (Sandy Jobin-Bevans) who explains that when he was about to leave he got a call from a realtor saying that there were two offers on the cabin. So, he has to stay for a couple of extra days in order to close the sale. He tells Stephanie that if they close the dealt that they should celebrate. Stephanie awkwardly agrees.

The next day Sam meets with Cassie at the kitchen and tells her about the busy day he has ahead. He also expresses that he believes Nick has been avoiding him, but he doesn’t know why. He leaves the kitchen and right that moment Nick enters. Cassie realizes there is something going on but decides not to dig about it. Instead, she leaves. Joy walks in and shares a brief conversation with Nick about physics, something that resonates to him. Abi shares with Donovan (Marc Bendavid) about the “dream candles” and he says he is confident her dream is about the curse being broken, but is surprised by Abi’s answer. The woman tells him that her dream is to live in Tuscany, Italy. She tells him that she spent some time there and would love to be back. This is something that doesn’t seem to fit well with Donovan. Stephanie meets with Abi and they discuss Wes’ invitation to celebrate after the cabin is sold. Stephanie is looking for someone to tell her it is alright that she accepted her invite but Abi tells her that she thinks the opposite of that.

Joy and Carter are walking around the house. He is checking everything to make sure about the work he needs to do, but his plans are not exactly the same as Joy’s who makes clear that she has already a work plan authorized by Martha.  She tells him that if he doesn’t agree, he can just leave. Abi and Donovan share a walk and it is clear that the man is still bothered by his girlfriend’s confession. She asks him if she had said something about her dream earlier that may have changed their relationship and he says it would as he plans on running for governor. He doesn’t see himself out of Middleton and thought that Abi would be by his side. After their walk Donovan and Abi stop by the Grey House where Cassie has the chance to talk to him. She asks him about his thoughts on Abi wanting to live in Italy and he tells her that he is afraid he might lose her. The woman asks him about if she is aware of that and he just remains silent. Cassie asks him to pass her the powdered sugar for her baklava. When he goes to open the cabinet, a bag of Italian Espresso falls down. Martha is so engaged with replacing her friend Debbie that she leaves Tom (Paul Miller) to start cooking on his own for the progressive dinner. He finally manages to keep her away from the computer and they cook together. Cassie shows up at the hospital to propose Sam join her on a trip to France. The man seems to be reluctant at first, given all the work he has to do, but ends up accepting the proposal.

Nick plays video games with Cassie and ends up confessing that if he failed his Physics course. So, he might be out of the design program and is afraid to tell Sam because he doesn’t want to disappoint him. The progressive dinner is about to start when Martha shows up all excited. She tells Tom that she just got an anonymous letter saying that a certain person needs to reveal something at a dinner and the woman believes that the letter was sent by one of the guests. She is on a mission to find out who wrote it. Martha tries talks to everyone in an attempt to figure out who was the anonymous sender is, but with no success.

Stephanie and Adam tell Martha that the Middleton Village Magazine named the Tinsdale on Toast as the sandwich of the week and the woman gets very excited. Joy sees Stephanie pouring a glass of wine and asks one for herself. She tells her that Carter, the carpenter, quit and she needs to fin another one. Martha overhears the conversation and gives her twenty-four hours to find a new one.

The guests are now at Stephanie’s house. Someone rings the doorbell and Adam goes to answer. He is surprised to find Wes standing there carrying a bottle of champagne. He expresses that he intended to celebrate with Stephanie about the selling of their cabin but didn’t know she would have guests. Stephanie shows up completely in shock and embarrassed, so Wes decides to leave.  Sam is still concerned about his son’s behavior and Cassie advises him to talk to him. Stephanie seeks for Cassie’s help about how to talk to Adam as well as the chaplain looks for Sam’s advice. They finally talk face to face and Adam asks Stephanie why she lied and wonders her if she needs space. She denies it, but then it’s him who asks for space as he leaves the place.

Cassie speaks to Sam about her proposal on going with her to France and tells him even though she values that he agreed she cannot just ask him to leave everything for her and follow along her dream. The friends are now at The Grey House where Stephanie talks to Abi about what happened with Adam. Abi tells her to go and talk to him and she does. Joy is surprised to see Carter arrive at the Grey House. He gives her Martha’s house keys and the woman takes the opportunity to apologize to him. They make amends and then Joy asks him to stay for dessert, but he says that he has plans with his girlfriend so he has to decline. Donovan gives Abi a piece of Tiramisu he made himself just to surprise her. She asks him if he has changed his mind about moving with her to Italy and he says that he might go.

Stephanie meets with Adam and tells him that she has been acting weird because she is afraid of how much she loves him and he says that he loves her, too. Sam talks to Nick and tells him a story about when he was about to fail one of his subjects but he managed to solve it and is sure that he will succeed too. Sam also tells him that as long as he does his best that he will never be disappointed in Nick. Cassie gives Martha a piece of pie and lets her know that she knows who sent the anonymous letter, but she would let her find out herself since it is more fun that way.

Cassie meets with Sam who is now on his third dessert. Abi and Joy join them in the kitchen. Joy sees Elizabeth’s candle has burned out and tells the others. Sam wants to know what that means, but then the three women stare at him and he realizes that’s his cue to leave. At the bottom of the candle there is a message that it says: “Never Stop Learning.”

Martha meets with Tom who expresses how sorry he is that she didn’t manage to figure out who wrote the letter. However, she tells him that she knows it was him and that what he meant was that their son and their daughter-in-law will be in Middleton soon.

The progressive dinner is about to end when Stephanie and Adam show up right before Sam’s toast. When he wraps his speech Adam’s glass falls out of his hand and his hand begins to shake and twist. Sam tries to help him by asking him to move his arm, but he doesn’t seem to be able to do it.
