The episode opens with Sam (James Denton) looking truly over excited about a French press that he just acquired while Cassie (Catherine Bell) makes fun of him about how he is willing to sacrifice some minutes with her just to try his new acquisition. In the meantime, Grace (Bailee Madison) and Luke (Dale Whibley) meet with Martha (Catherine Disher) to let her know that everything is settled and perfectly organized to work properly while she is on vacation. When the woman is finally convinced that everything is ready, she leaves with her husband Tom (Paul Miller) on what she declares “The Tinsdale’s Vacation.”

Meanwhile, at The Grey House, Nick (Rhys Matthew Bond) is playing a hockey video game with his friend Jacob (Mika Amonsen) and once again he gets beaten by him. Sam walks in right that moment and they discuss about Jacob’s upcoming championship and how excited he is about it. The guy also mentions that he believes that making Nick lose at the video game one day prior his team big game is like a lucky charm for him.

Abi (Sarah Power) visits Donovan (Marc Bendavid) and gives him a rubber hot dog toy for his dog Klondike, something that makes Donovan to tell her that he feels she likes his dog more than him. They make plans for dinner and share a kiss when they are interrupted by Dotty Davenport (Paula Boudreau), Donovan’s mother. The woman seems to be very blunt about her comments, complaining to her son for not calling her often and, of course, for not telling her who he is dating. So, to provide a solution to that matter, she decides to invite her son and Abi for dinner. Donovan seems to be reluctant to accept the invitation, but Abi does for him.

Stephanie (Kylee Evans) is working at the bistro when a woman who identifies herself as Melanie (Samantha Munro) enters the place and makes an order while asking for directions to get to the town hospital. Everything works well until she decides to make a very specific request while ordering a BLT that rings a bell for the blonde. She tells her that there is only one person who orders a BLT like that and that is when Stephanie realizes that Melanie is actually Adam’s (Scott Cavalheiro) ex fiancée.

Back at The Grey House Cassie is putting some lavender on the foyer when Sam walks in trying to guess which plant is it but he fails. Cassie lets him know that soon the new guests will arrive and right that moment, the Tinsdales walk in willing to spend a well-deserved vacation at the place. Cassie welcomes them and escorts them to their room when Sam receives a call from Nick saying that Jacob has hurt himself at the game and needs his help.

Later that day Stephanie meets with Cassie to tell her that Adam’s ex fiancée is in town looking for him and she seems to be willing to get him back. Cassie suggests her to figure out if Adam would want the same.

Sam talks with Nick about Jacob’s condition. He explains that the guy has a broken leg, so he won’t be able to play hockey at least within six months and only if he goes to rehab.

Abi meets with Grace who tells her about Luke. The woman suggests her cousin to ask him out and while she is trying to help the girl figure out a speech to do so Grace texts him and he agrees on going out with her immediately. Stephanie visits Adam at the hospital to let him know that Melanie is in town and, apparently, the woman still believes she has a chance to get him back – something that Adam doesn’t know what to do with.

Cassie and Sam are spending some time together when Martha and Paul walk in and suggests they join them in playing a game called “Spouse Trap.” Sam doesn’t seem to be very convinced about the idea, but Cassie finds it interesting. Martha says that the game is about how much they know each other as a couple and assures them that she and Tom are not very good at it.

Abi and Donovan have finally arrived at Dotty’s house and the woman welcomes them happily. Abi has gotten some flowers for her and the woman asks her son to put them in a vase while she shows Abi around the house. While touring around Dotty tells her about the legend behind the house and the story about her ancestor Nathaniel’s doomed love story with Violet. They discuss about their point of views about love and Abi says that she believes that when two people are meant to be together they will always find their way to each other, despite of everything.

Adam is at the hospital when Melanie shows up asking for his forgiveness. She tries to make him remember how good they were together and how sorry she is that she had called off the wedding. Adam seems to be moved by the memories, but he is still not sure that going back together is the right choice for them.

Luke shows up at The Grey House to pick up Grace and go on their date. Unfortunately for him, Sam is the one who opens the door wearing an inquisitive look when the young man asks about the girl. Cassie jumps in and saves Luke from melting down in front of Sam, but then she goes to find Grace and the poor guy is left alone with Sam who interrogates him as much as he can as well as asking him to be a gentleman to Grace. Cassie and the girl show up and Sam lets them know that he wants them back by 10pm, but Cassie manages to convince him not to be so harsh on them.

Later that night the couples are playing the famous “Spouse Trap” game and, unfortunately for the Radfords, the game isn’t going so well as Cassie and Sam realize they don’t know much about each other. That is starting to create a very uneasy feeling around. Martha tries to soothe the situation but it’s a little late for that.

Nick visits Jacob and attempts to cheer him up, but the other guy is just not in the mood and asks him to leave him alone. Luke and Grace go to the skating rink and the girl confesses that she has never done this before. So, Luke tells her not to worry as he will teach her.

Back at Dotty’s house dinner is in full swing now. Abi makes a comment about the food and explains that she used to mix the dishes differently to what the other woman replies that there are some type of food that should not be mixed – just as the Davenports and the Merriwicks. From then on the conversation goes down hill as Dotty is very clear about her thoughts of not wanting her son’s heart to be broken. As it is expected, Donovan starts to feel very uncomfortable and decides to end the dinner.

Sam and Cassie start a conversation about the game and their concerns about it. Martha walks in and asks for their help with the fire place so Sam goes to help Tom to fix it. When the two women are left alone Martha tells Cassie that she shouldn’t be worried as they still have a lot to learn about each other. In the meantime, in the living room Sam and Tom also discuss about what happened during their game and the older man tells Sam that the reason he and Martha know each other that well is because of the amount of time they have been married. He says that at first they were exactly in the same place as he is with Cassie right now.

Donovan and Abi arrive at the woman’s house and he apologizes for his mother’s behavior. He mentions that he tried to warn her, but Abi didn’t know she was going to be that forward about her comments. Abi hesitates a moment and expresses her concerns about that maybe Dotty is right and right that moment a frame falls from the wall and straight to the floor. Luke is getting some drinks for them when he receives a call and explains to the person on the other end of the line that he hasn’t got any information about Abi, but he will. He ends the call and goes back to Grace. Luke tells Grace about his family story and how he has an aunt that is helping him to pay for his tuition. For a moment he considers telling the truth to the girl, but then they are interrupted by a voice calling all the couples to the skating rink and he decides not to say anything at all. Once they are on the rink Grace attempts to pick up the conversation, but Luke lies and says that he just wanted to tell her that he is having a lot of fun. They skate together when Grace falls. When Luke helps her to stand up, they kiss.

Sam is on his way to see Jacob, so Nick asks him to take him some of his favorites chips. Sam asks him to take them himself, but Nick explains that he is pretty sure his friend is not in the mood to see him based on his last experience. Sam advises him to give him some space and he will come around. He tells him about a friend of his that went through a similar situation, but everything turned out well at the end.

The next day Sam and Cassie are cooking some breakfast for the Tinsdales and agree on taking some time off so they can go and take a walk together that same afternoon. Back at the hospital Sam talks to Jason about his progress, but the guy doesn’t seem to be so optimist about it. So, Sam calls a friend who went through the same experience as him to tell him about his story and said friend turned out to be none other than Jacques Brodeur (Joey Coleman), Jacob’s favorite hockey player. The man speaks to him about the things he had to overcome after his accident and how he almost lost faith on himself. He also invites him to play with him.
