Good Witch – The Tableau
By: Gladys Luna
Cassie (Catherine Bell) is organizing a batch of Nathaniel Merriwick’s paintings that she just found at the Grey House. Abi (Sarah Power) joins her while eating a muffin. She is drawn by a painting that shows Nathaniel, his wife Meredith and their daughter Patience and confesses that she would have loved if they had made it a lot easier to break the curse. Cassie hugs her and comforts her. Later on, Martha (Catherine Disher) pays a visit to Cassie and tells her about the mayor’s meeting that she attended and how she loved a “tableau vivant” she saw. She would like to replicate it as a way to celebrate The Grey House two hundredth and twenty-fifth anniversary. She sees the same picture that Abi saw earlier and believes that’s the one they should use as a reference. The doorbell rings and Cassie welcomes Hayley (Isabel Kanaan), an influencer that goes around the world visiting marvelous places to show to her followers. As soon as she enters she begins to take pictures of everything she sees. Cassie recommends her to live the experience, but the girl seems to be attached to her phone.
Sam (James Denton) meets Adam (Scott Cavalheiro) at the hospital and lets him know that he just saw his physical therapist Michelle (Ace Hicks) who told him that the chaplain has already skipped a couple of sessions. Adam tries to excuse himself saying that he has been really busy, but he is doing well. Sam challenges him to play foosball to prove his hand is recovering and he fails. Joy (Katherine Barrell) helps Cassie to carry the trunk that used to have Nathaniel’s paintings while discussing how terrible she feels for Abi and the dream she had about her. She wishes that she didn’t know what she knows sometimes. Cassie tells her is not her fault what happened with Abi and gives her a gift, which turns out to be a necklace that has a pearl that has been passed from Merriwick to Merriwick through generations and Joy feels special to have it.
Martha invites Stephanie (Kylee Evans) to be the head of the Middleton’s first Greenhouse Community Committee and the woman happily agrees. Joy is in the kitchen ready to grab a muffin when Hayley walks in and asks her to let her take a picture while she tries to grab it. Hayley introduces herself and is happy to find out that Joy already knows who she is. Joy leaves and Cassie walks in while the girl is still taking pictures and saying that the muffins are just perfect. The woman asks her to taste them instead, but the girl says that she needs to post first and eat later. While trying to post the pictures she just took the girl finds out that she has no signal and panics, saying that her phone is her life. Cassie says that maybe this is her chance to stop a little bit and enjoy. Adam confesses to Stephanie that he feels he’s letting Sam down by not going to his therapies, but the woman says that the only one he is letting down is himself. He is convinced that his situation is not going to get any better and has surrendered to it, but Stephanie assures him that she won’t give up that easily.
Joy gives Abi the trunk where Nathaniel’s paintings were and they find that there’s another painting there signed by “P. Connelly.” Curiously, the “C” in the Connelly is a crescent moon like the one they saw on a previous painting in the traveler’s wagon. Abi meets with Donovan (Marc Bendavid) and tells him about what she found and they agree on doing some research to figure out where the painting comes from. Martha calls for a meeting with the Greenhouse Committee where they discuss a request from one of the locals to paint her house a color that is not officially approved. Stephanie makes a suggestion about another color they can use that is actually approved and is similar to the one the neighbor wants, but Martha denies it. This is something that doesn’t seem to sit well with Stephanie.
Joy and Carter (Jason Diaz) are working. She gloats about what a wonderful match maker she is and they agree to help each other to find a date. Cassie and Hayley go to the bistro. Cassie orders a latte for the girl and she is happy to see the foam art on it. She immediately takes a picture of it and is disappointed to find out that she cannot post it for her followers to see it. Stephanie and Cassie encourage her to enjoy the moment and the company instead.
Adam goes back to the foosball table and tries to play but finds it hard. Michelle, his therapist, shows up and says that it will be easier for him if he would attend his sessions. Joy and Carter continue talking about their match making skills when Martha walks in carrying an old walking stick. She tells them that they seem to make a good team and also explains that she is looking for props she can use for the “tableau vivant” she is planning. Suddenly, Joy freezes up and Carter looks surprised, but Martha explains that is the act they are planning on doing and Joy will be part of it. The woman leaves and Carter says to Joy that he won’t miss the tableau for anything and also assures her that her date will be there, too. The woman tries to guess what kind of person would be a good fit for him but nothing comes to her mind. So, she asks him about it and to judge by his description it seems like he is actually talking about her.
Donovan is on a call asking for help to figure out the identity of “P. Connelly.” He wraps the call and his mother Dottie (Paula Boudreau) walks in and realizes immediately that there is something wrong with him. She invites him for lunch and tries to dig into the reason that has him worried, but he refuses to talk about it. The only thing he says is that he and Abi have broken up. As he is not in the mood to be with her, she decides to leave but tells him that if he changes his mind he knows where to find her. At that moment he decides that it might be better for him if he spends some time with her. The woman takes a sit and he explains about the painting and the woman recognizes who is behind it, Priscilla Connelly who was Daniel Davenport’s wife. Donovan gets really excited to have more details that would take him closer to break the curse.
Joy goes to the bistro and talks to Stephanie about the agreement she made with Carter and tells her about the kind of woman he is looking for, but confesses that since her intuition has been a little off lately she doesn’t know where to find his perfect match. This is something that Stephanie laughs at while telling her that Carter seems to be talking about her. Cassie finds Sam making a painting. The man decided to make a portrait of The Grey House, but doesn’t seem to be quite convinced with how is turning out. Cassie tells him that she finds it perfect since that is a way to keep the tradition going.
Martha shows up at the Greenhouse and goes to find Stephanie. She asks her where her plot is, but the other woman tells her that since she didn’t sign up like everyone else she wasn’t able to get her one. This is something that doesn’t make Martha happy at all. Joy is still curious to know who her date will be and Carter says that he has a friend called Andy (Chris George) who is an accountant and thinks it might be a good fit for her. Adam finally decides to go back to therapy. After doing a few exercises, Michelle assures him that his hand is recovering pretty well. Joy rushes back into the Grey House and meets with Hayley who is waiting for her cab to take her to the airport. She asks her to do her a favor and sets her up on a date with Carter. After some persuasion the girl is convinced to help her. Joy goes to the rehearsal for the tableau vivant and meets with the rest of the team. Martha explains the process they will follow and suddenly Abi gets a text from her flower vendor and has to abandon the rehearsal. Stephanie arrives looking for Cassie and Martha shows her discontent to see her there. Cassie takes the chance to bring them together trying to help them to solve their issues. Unfortunately, they end up back at square one.
Dottie goes to see Abi who, at first, thinks that the woman is happy that her and Donovan have broken up but is surprised when Dottie tells her that she has growing fond of her because she makes her son truly happy. She believes they are more alike than they would care to admit. Also, she confesses that she has tried hard to break them apart, but in the same way she will now fight to bring them together. Martha talks to Cassie and tells her that she is looking for some heather for the tableau but doesn’t believe she can find it. The other woman says that maybe she can find some at the Greenhouse, but Martha assures her that since they have just started she doesn’t believe she will locate it. Cassie assures her that she won’t believe what can spring in only two days. Adam calls Sam to the break room and invites him to play foosball to show him the progress he has made, making the doctor very happy about it. Martha does as Cassie requested and finds some heather, but then realizes that it belongs to Stephanie. She decides to go somewhere else, but Stephanie tells her that she will give it to her as a way to apologize for not giving her a plot in the Greenhouse.
Everybody is gathered at the Grey House. Joy, Carter, Hayley and Andy are happily talking but it seems that Joy is not entirely convinced about her date. After a while she is left alone with Andy only to realize that they are not exactly a good match. She looks at the other side of the room where Carter and Hayley are laughing and having fun.
Abi is getting ready for her performance when Joy walks in complaining about her date. Martha comes in afterwards to make sure everything is working properly. That is when Donovan walks in looking worried. He is left alone with Abi and tells her that he found the author of the painting, but it was also confirmed that she had no relatives alive. Martha says that one of the performers won’t be able to attend and asks for Donovan to replace him. The man declines but Abi convinces him saying that it might be last time they are together.
It’s show time so the performers get in line. One by one the walk to the stage and before is Abi and Donovan’s turn, a paper that he is using as a prop falls off his hand and when he picks it up, he realizes of something but cannot do much since he has to go on stage. The “tableau vivant” goes as expected and when they are done, Donovan asks Martha where she got the deed and she explains that she found it among the archives at her house. Donovan explains to Abi that the deed belonged to Roderick Davenport and it’s a proof of a piece of land he gave to Priscilla maybe as a payment for helping him to cast the curse. He thinks that maybe if they go and search on the archives that they might find something else that is of value for them.
Stephanie goes to Adam and pretends to be his fan saying that she loved his performance. He gives her an autograph and asks for her name. She says that she is the woman who will support him no matter what. Andy wants to ask something of Joy but before he does she tells him that they cannot go on another date since they didn’t really click. The man confesses that he thinks the same way and what he wanted to ask her was if he can leave already since he has a chess game he doesn’t want to miss. Carter goes to Joy and tells her that Hayley offered for him to go to L.A. with her and remodel her house. Even though it is obvious that the woman is disappointed by the thought of him leaving, she encourages to do it and tells him that she will find someone who can take on his job. Cassie joins Martha and Stephanie who are laughing and talking. They confess to Cassie that they have finally solved their issues. Later on Cassie talks to Hayley who seems happy about all of the experiences she’s been having since she arrived at Middleton and confesses to Cassie that since she was invested in a conversation with Carter, she didn’t even have the chance to take pictures of the event. Right that moment her phone starts to sound with a bunch of notifications, but she decides to check it later and goes to find Carter instead. Joy looks for Cassie and tells her that she hasn’t been feeling herself lately and also discovered that pearls are not for her. Cassie takes her necklace off and tells her that she can go back to herself again.
The party is over and now we can see Sam and Cassie staring at the painting that Sam made. The Grey House is in it and at the front are Cassie and Sam. He still doesn’t believe that he did a good job, but the woman tells him that what she loves the most is that two hundred years from now someone will be inspired by that painting.
