Good Witch – The Treasure
By: Gladys Luna
Grace (Bailee Madison) is surprised to find Luke (Dale Whibley) at her school. When asking for an explanation, he decides to dodge the question by answering that is a long story to tell. At the Grey House Sam (James Denton) and Cassie (Catherine Bell) are having breakfast when Abi (Sarah Power) walks in with a yearbook on hand where it shows a picture of a teenager Sam along with the phrase “making a great discovery.” Abi makes fun of his looks and for a moment it seems that Sam has forgotten that he even had that goal. As expected, this doesn’t go unnoticed by Cassie who looks at him suspiciously.
Later that day at Abi’s flower shop Donovan (Marc Bendavid) walks in and invites her to a “very political dinner.” He mentions that he hesitated on asking her to go with him because he wanted to make sure she really liked him before he made the move. Right that moment Abi receives a text message from Dottie (Paula Boudreau) asking her for lunch and Abi agrees.
In the meantime at the City Hall we see Luke coming clean to Grace and telling her that his aunt is actually Dottie Davenport and the reason he became an intern for Abi was to get information about her since his aunt wanted to find the way to break the Davenport-Merriwick curse. Obviously, Grace doesn’t take the news well and accuses him of using her to accomplish his mission. Suddenly Martha (Catherine Disher) walks in and Grace takes the opportunity to leave. Martha stumbles and one of the cabinet’s door near her breaks revealing an old paper inside. When the woman opens it she realizes that the parchment is actually Middleton’s original charter. Grace goes to the Grey House looking for her mother but only finds Sam there. When the man sees how unsettled she seems to be he offers his help and the girl ends up confessing that Luke lied and used her only to spy on Abi.
Back to the City Hall and Martha has called for a team urgent meeting to inform of her findings. She shows them the parchment written by Nathaniel and Meredith, the town founders. While doing so someone accidentally spills a glass of water over it making some marks to reveal themselves on the paper. She is now on a mission to find Middleton’s treasure. At the hospital Sam meets with Adam (Scott Cavalheiro) who makes fun of his old hairdo. He tells him that Abi told Stephanie about it and the woman shared the information with him. Sam tells him about the dream he used to have about making a great discovery and Adam says that he can check that box already, but Sam doesn’t seem to understand. Adam tells him that he will discover it himself.
Vincent (Gianpaolo Venuta) pays a visit to Cassie to speak about a certain topic that’s been lingering on his mind recently, but the woman manages to figure it out before he even start to speak. She knows that he wants to go back on sailing and she says that if he does he will be missed but she won’t oppose to that.
Cassie and Vincent welcome Natalie (Shailene Garnett) to the Grey House, a woman that has been hired by Mayor Martha in order to write about Middleton’s history. As if on cue, Martha walks in and explains them about what she found. She asks for Vincent’s help to find someone that can assist her with finding the city’s treasure before the next day when they celebrate Middleton’s two hundred and twenty fifth Founder’s Day anniversary. The man offers himself to do it and when the mayor asks him about the reason why she should give him the job, he explains that once he was hired to find a pirate ship that was sunken in the 18th century in the middle of the Mediterranean and he did so. Martha doesn’t need to hear anything else as she has been blown away by his discovery. However, she doesn’t seem to be the only one that has been surprised by his story. Natalie is also in awe of what she heard and asks him to allow her to join him on his quest as it will be of help for her research. Vincent happily agrees.
In the meantime, Stephanie and Adam are sharing some coffee at the bistro when Vincent shows up to tell her about his new mission and how he’ll need some help with the food truck. Adam offers himself to assist them and the other two appreciate the collaboration. Abi meets with Dottie for lunch where Donovan’s mother tells her that she is afraid that her relationship with her son jeopardizes his career. She shows her old newspaper pieces about her father’s demons and tells her that the curse hasn’t disappeared, but Abi is not willing to give up that easily.
Vincent and Natalie are at the town’s City Hall trying to figure out the marks on the parchment. They seem to find some clues and all of a sudden the woman goes quiet. Vincent catches up in time and asks her about what she found but she lies and leaves.
Cassie shows up at Abi’s store and they discuss about her recent meeting with Dottie. Grace walks in announcing what happened with Luke and is surprised to find out that Abi already knows about it. It hasn’t seemed to be a good day for the family, so Abi tries to cheer themselves up with a box of chocolates. Vincent finds Natalie right at the place he expected her to be. The woman cannot believe that he figured out her next move and attempts to excuse herself saying that she is tired of what other people have accomplished without having done something herself. So, she wants to discover what she is capable of. While they are there they manage to find some other clues that tells them they are in the right path.
Back at the Bistro Stephanie has made a Monte Cristo sandwich and wants Adam to try it. He seems to be content, but not entirely pleased and tells her that with her skills she can do much better. He also tells her that the best Monte Cristo sandwich he has ever tasted was his own. So, they start a challenge to figure out which one of them makes the best one.
Sam finds Vincent struggling with the new found clues and he manages to help him to translate some of the writings and to also figure out another clue. Vincent goes to where his next lead might be and Natalie shows up saying that she had followed him there. Martha appears and asks about any updates on their mission and Vincent decides to lie and pretend that he doesn’t know that Natalie wants the treasure for herself and says that she has been of great help instead.
Adam presents his Monte Cristo sandwich to Stephanie and she loves it. So, she decides they need to bring in an impartial judge to choose which one is the best one.
Luke shows up at the Grey House to see Grace, but Sam tells him that maybe she doesn’t want to see him. He expresses his regret for what he did and when the man questions him about why he is now attending Grace’s school he said that he decided to cut his aunt’s help himself. Sam believes that it was guilt that has taken him to his door, but Luke tells him that it was Grace who actually did and asks him to tell her that she inspired him to do the right thing.
Stephanie and Adam have chosen Cassie as the judge for their sandwiches. She tastes both and instead of choosing one of them she suggests they combine both ingredients and create one amazing sandwich.
Grace helps Abi to get ready for her dinner with Donovan when Sam calls saying that the man had a motorcycle accident. Abi goes straight to the hospital where her boyfriend seems to be alright except for some bruised ribs. Sam suggests he stay all night for observation and Abi thinks is a good idea. Right then Dottie shows up saying she believes the same and it seems that she and Abi have something they finally agree on. Abi decides to leave the room, but later Dottie meets her in the waiting room saying that this is all because of the curse that lays on them and asks her to stay away from her son before anything worse happens.
Martha pays a visit to Dottie to let her know that she is aware of how she used her nephew to spy on Abi. They revisit some old quarrels and Martha assures her that if there is someone who can beat the odds that it is Abi. Vincent and Natalie go back to the place where they found their latest clue and try to find something that may lead them somewhere else. Martha gets worried when she sees they are stuck on their findings, but then Natalie sees some numbers that combined together provide some coordinates that Vincent can read quite well.
Founders Day has arrived so Stephanie and Adam are happy to present their new sandwich. Their first client is Luke followed by Grace who doesn’t seem to be mad at him anymore. In the meantime Martha, Vincent and Natalie go to where the coordinates have led them, which it turns to be the wishing well. Natalie manages to remove one of the bricks where she finds a small chest that she happily gives to Martha who is soon disappointed by only finding sand inside of it. In the meantime, Grace and Luke share their sandwich and decide to make amends. Martha is nervous about her speech and tells Cassie that she is disappointed they didn’t find the treasure to what the other woman tries to calm her down using her regular puzzles that surely later will make sense for the mayor.
Abi visits Donovan and breaks up with him. He tells her that she is all that he needs, but she confesses that, in fact, she is exactly the last thing he needs on his life right now. The town has gathered to celebrate Founders Day and it is time for Martha’s speech. Although she confesses she is disappointed that the treasure remains unfound, she shares advice a dear friend of her just told her, “We climb mountains not so the world can see us but so we can see the world.” So, she believes that maybe it was their ancestors wish for the treasure not to be found but to enjoy the search. The fireworks begin and everyone seem to be happy just being there. Natalie confesses to Vincent that she is happy even though she didn’t find the treasure because she found something more.
Cassie visits Abi at her shop and tells her that she missed her at the celebration, but the girl says that she was not in the mood and tells her about her breakup with Donovan.
Later at the Grey House Vincent invites Natalie to go sailing with him. He says his goodbyes to Sam and Cassie and promises he’ll be back for Grace’s graduation. Martha arrives and asks for Cassie and Sam’s help to figure out a message in the parchment. Sam translates the motto as “the truth lies within,” which gives him the idea figure out that said motto was actually an instruction that allows them to find a key inside the roll that holds the paper. Now, it is up to them to discover what is exactly that the key unlocks.
