Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I’m inspired and influence by lots of different sounds, but I would say my it’s Soul Pop music at its heart.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Emeli Sande, Sam Smith, Teddy Swims and my vocal queens Beyonce and Whitney [Houston]!

Q) Strings Attached is your latest album. What is the inspiration behind it?

A) Being my first original album, it’s my life up to now…Some songs are fairly new. Some I wrote many years ago through some pretty tough times. It’s an album about survival and it’s for anyone who’s ever had to get back up again after overcoming hard times.

Q) The album has songs that deal with many tough issues you’ve dealt with, such as bullying, abuse and mental health. Why was it important for you to share your stories through your music?

A) I’m only really learning through releasing these how important it is to share because the response has been both healing for me and I’ve had lots of messages from people who have been through similar and have shared that it’s helped them. [smiles] That’s probably the thing I’m most proud about on this album

Q) What was the biggest challenge of making Strings Attached as a whole?

A) Probably working through the various traumas that I sing about. Making the album was a magical experience.

Q) Which one of your songs off the album has the most meaning to you and why?

A) I would say “Who Gave You Permission?” as it’s about the thing that effected my life the most and more difficult to overcome – sexual abuse. I stand tall now in my light and hand back the shame and pain I felt. It’s been very empowering.

Q) You have many collaborations on this album. Tell us about how you came to connect with these amazing artists.

A) Working with Shoshana Bean was an out of body experience – I still pinch myself. She’s one of my favorite all time vocalists and this song (written by Scott Alan) is just so stunning. I connected with Shoshana through Scott who also wrote another track on this album “Something Has To Change.” Morissette I connected with online and what a voice – my goodness! Kate [DeAraugo], Adam [Noviello] and Kween [Kong] are all friends of mine and we came together out of necessity to do something about the violence within our community – enough is enough! I’m very grateful to all the amazing artists I got to work with on this album.

Q) What do you hope lingers with people who explore Strings Attached– either as an emotion or message?

A) I hope it’s the message of this album – YOU ARE ENOUGH! You are so enough – it’s unbelievable how enough you are. [smiles]

Q) Who are some people you would like to collaborate with in the future?

A) Oooh I love Teddy Swims, Sam Smith and Emeli Sande as mentioned, but also I’d love to keep working with great writers – I still have a lot to say and sing about!

Q) In addition to your album, you’ve appeared in “Australia’s Got Talent.” Do you have plans on doing the American (or any other) version of the show?

A) Hmmm NEVER SAY NEVER! It was a great experience the first time!

Q) You are a member of social media. Why is it so important for you to connect to your fans in this way?

A) [laughs] As an independent artist it’s essential to be able to connect directly to the people who support me. I’m grateful to be able to connect with as many people as I have and to continue to grow and reach more people! FOLLOW ME [laughs]

Q) What else would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A) I see you! Feel free to reach out – let’s have a conversation and also just a huge thank you because without them I can’t do what I do and live out my dreams – so thank you!
