Q) How would you describe your sound?

 

A) My sound is very fun and unique, and I feel like I have a very identifiable tone to my voice. I like to relate my music to a lot of the singers that I listen to like Dua Lipa, Ava Max and Ariana Grande. I love writing music that you can dance to, and I love writing music that you can also cry to.

 

Q) Your new release “Girls” came out earlier this month. What was your song writing process like? Typically, do you need to have music first before you can create lyrics?

 

A) My writing process changes every time I’m in the studio. I’m a creative. I go with the flow, and I feel the vibe I’m feeling for that day. I speak on my feelings after listening to the track that the producer creates.

 

Q) “Girls” seems to be about just having a good time with people you care about and enjoying your time with them. What was your goal creating the song?

 

A) The goal of creating “Girls” was very unplanned. I wanted to write a song about the girlfriend group that I actually don’t have. My whole life I’ve struggled with making girlfriends, and if it wasn’t making girlfriends, it was keeping them in my life. I wanted to write a song about all the beautiful girls that are in my friend group and what they would be like.

 

Q) The song was produced by Jesse Barrera who has worked with artists like Tori Kelly. How important is it to showcase the positive empowerment that one feels when you surround yourself with supportive and confident women?

 

A) It’s super important to showcase a positive empowerment to young girls who are listening to my music, because I too once needed that mentorship and that love that I got listening to the artists that I aspire to be like today. The people who are listening to my music can be inspired. I want to make a huge mark, especially on the upcoming women of our future.

 

Q) You said that Jesse already had a track ready for you when you arrived in LA and that the two of you really hit it off from the get-go. What do you think it was that contributed to your connection?

 

A) It was honestly the vibe and the flow that was going that day. People who have chemistry will always naturally connect, and Jessie and I were naturally bound to have a bond. He’s an incredible producer and we just click. I’m really grateful.

 

Q) The song really is a fun, relatable track that talks about your internal struggle with making girlfriends. What do you hope people take away from it?

 

A) When people listen to “Girls,” I hope they take away a fun experience. Realizing how beautiful and powerful women are and how beautiful our figures are no matter what shape, size or color. Women are unstoppable.

 

Q) Previous releases Pinnacle and Teach Em have surpassed over one million streams on Spotify, and you’ve written with members of the industry who have collaborated with Demi Lovato, Ariana Grande and Katy Perry. What drove you to their work?

 

A) What drove me to their work was how fun they are to work with and how beautiful their creative spirits are in addition to how they are so transparent with their music. I feel like every time they release a song it’s so incredible. I aspire to be like that someday. And I get really excited to work with people who have worked with them before because I feel like I’m one step closer to achieving my dream.

 

Q) You kicked off 2021 with two releases in the Billboard Top 20: “Jingle Bells” and “Joy to the World” and have not slowed down. Where have been some of your favorite places to perform and why?

 

A) My favorite show ever was opening up for Danity Kane at the Irvine Plaza in New York. The day was perfect, the crowd was electric, and everything was executed without flaws that day.  It’s a show and performance that I will never forget.

 

Q) You were born in Houston, Texas of Cuban American heritage and influenced by your father who sang and toured the US with a barbershop quartet group. How do you think that prepared you to get involved in the music industry?

 

A) My father prepared me to be the best musician I could possibly be. Through his trials and tribulations and struggles as an immigrant, his determination and work ethic were definitely passed on to me.

 

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

 

A) Julia Michaels or Dua Lipa

 

Q) What new artists have you been listening to on repeat during lockdown?

 

A) My music changes every week. Currently, I am listening to everything from Dua Lipa to Daniel Martz to Billie Eilish to Sasha Sloan to Bazzi to Charlie Puth to Olivia Rodrigo.
