Hannah Marks – A World of Sparks
Q. What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?
A. After I filmed the pilot I did a part in the new Spiderman movie that comes out next year and then I went back to Atlanta to film the series.
Q. What can you tell us about the premise for “Necessary Roughness” and about your character?
A. We start off with her finding out that her husband has been cheating on her and her family is falling apart and her career is falling apart. When one door closes another door opens and she ends up as a therapist for a pro football star and that ends up giving her more and more famous clients and so her life starts to reboot. I play Lindsay her daughter and she’s really smart, really rebellious, manipulative, and scheming. She basically is set on ruining Dani’s life just because she’s one of those miserable hormonal teenage girls.
Q. What is it about the show that made you want to be a part of it?
A. Definitely Callie, Callie is an amazing talent and she was so great on “Rescue Me.” When I found out I got the part I researched her like crazy and watched all of these videos of her. She’s just so phenomenal and funny and she’s great at comedy and drama so she is what made me so excited to be a part of it. Also the fact that it is a true story was so compelling to me and it’s just great.
Q. What is it about your role that you find challening?
A. It can be very challenging because Lindsay is always the one throwing a fit in a scene. She’s always going crazy because she has so many problems of her own and she hates her brother and thinks she hates her mom so she’s always the one going nuts. That can be a little hard o play but it’s fun, it’s fun being the drama queen.
Q. Did you have any idea about all of the success that the show has had?
A. I had no idea how the show would do but of course I hoped it would do really well. I wasn’t really sure because the trailers made it look like it’s a lot about football and therapy, but it’s really a lot more than that. It’s really about issues that families go through and it’s just really real and I didn’t know if people would get to see that or not, but it’s great that they did.
Q. Is there anyone that you would really like to see guest star on the show?
A. I was just thinking about that the other day, I would love to see anyone from the show “Shameless.” That right now is my complete addiction, the show “Shameless” on Showtime. I would love for anyone from that show to be a part of it because they are all such great characters and I could see them really fitting in with our cast.
Q. What do you think it is about the show that has drawn in so many viewers?
A. I think it definitely is Callie because she is so funny and likable and she really carries the show. I think a lot of people can relate to what she has gone through because she is a single mother. I think that really hits home for a lot of people. We have family drama, we have work drama, we have something for everyone.
Q. You’re a part of the social networking site Twitter, what is it about the site that made you want to connect with fans?
A. I’ve had it for a couple of years now. I am home schooled so I do all of my work online so I am constantly looking for new websites to join. I really like the whole aspect of social networking. I think Twitter is really fun and it’s a good way to not take things so seriously, you just get to write what you’re up to. I like it and I like getting to talk to people that have seen the show.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. I would like to say thank you so much for watching, it means so much to every single one of us here in Atlanta. We’re making this so people will watch it and so people will like it and so people can escape from whatever is going on in their life and have a good time for an hour. We’re really hoping that everyone finds it as funny as we do and learns from it just like we are learning from it.
