Hell Motel – Cat and Mouse

The morning after Blake’s (Atticus Mitchell) demise, Shirley (Yanna McIntosh) and Floyd (Gray Powell) have finally arrived at the day they have waited 30 years for: the ritual to summon Baphomet. But to complete the ritual, they decide to head out to find Blake’s body in the woods. While they head out, Paige (Paula Brancati) is watching them through her window.

In the woods Shirley and Floyd only find Blake’s shirt at first….followed by the remaining pieces of Blake’s body. Floyd deduces from the nearby bloody snow blower that Blake’s death was caused by their mystery murderer. The couple tries to figure out how to bring Blake back to the motel when Paige arrives on the scene. Seizing their opportunity, Shirley and Floyd use Blake’s death and Andy’s (Jim Watson) absence to begin sowing seeds of doubt.

In a flashback, Andy is appearing before a college board to defend his thesis and receive his Ph.D. While Andy feels strongly about his morbid topic, the board shreds his work apart. Unfortunately, Andy fails to defend his thesis and does not secure his Ph.D.

Present-day, Shirley and Floyd know they need to convince Paige that Andy is the killer. They persist in pushing the issue of trust as Paige continues to doubt them. Eventually, the couple convinces Paige that she can search their room to prove their innocence. In turn, Paige will have to allow Shirley and Floyd to search hers and Andy’s rooms. Reluctantly, Paige agrees to the terms. The search proves to Paige that the couple is innocent….despite their Baphomet costume hidden up in the ceiling. Paige’s room proves to be a dead end, but Andy’s room produces a book about Satanic rituals. With this information, Paige believes Andy could be the killer and agrees that he will need to be subdued.

Getting Andy alone, Paige procures one of Ruby (Brynn Godenir) and Portia’s (Michelle Nolden) sleeping pills. Mixing it into a hot beverage, Paige gives Andy the drink and offers it to him. When the pills begin to take effect, Andy proclaims his innocence. One knocked out, Andy is tied to the bed and will be dealt with when the police arrive….or so Paige believes.

With Paige still feeling unsettled, Shirley tries to soothe her and has Paige go back to her room for a hot bath. Paige settles into the bath, but not for long. Soon enough, Paige’s phone finally has a signal that allows her to receive notifications. With service, Paige dials 911.

As Shirley and Floyd set up the bodies for the ritual to summon Baphomet, Paige uses her cell service to look up the book that was found in Andy’s room. Tracing it back to an occult shop, Paige clicks on the website link and quickly learns that Shirley and Floyd are not who they seem. Soon enough, Shirley returns with a scrub from the spa and Paige hides her phone to avoid suspicion. In the other room, Andy starts to wake up from the effects of the pills.

Shirley tries to soothe a false sense of security into Paige. She uses the mud to mark Paige’s forehead and help her wash up but then pushes Paige under the water as she starts to chant. Paige struggles to come up for air while Shirley chants, the ding from Paige’s phone surprising Shirley. With Paige aware of the truth, the women begin to fight one another. Eventually, Paige gains the upper hand and kills Shirley in the tub. Downstairs, Floyd is unaware of his wife’s death as he continues setting up. With everything ready, Floyd gets ready to start the sacrifice.

Paige heads to Andy’s room and unties him. While Andy is hesitant to believe Paige, she quickly explains that Shirley and Floyd are Satanists and more than likely the killers. Paige also tells Andy that she was able to call 911 due to her phone having service, but that they need to get out of there before Floyd discovers Shirley’s body.

Walking into Paige’s room, Floyd discovers Shirley’s body. His rage is heard through the motel and that prompts Andy and Paige to arm themselves. Securing the weapons they have on hand, they head out into the hallway and are greeted by Floyd in a Baphomet costume. Fueled by the loss of Shirley, Floyd tries to turn Andy and Paige against one another as they fight him off. As Floyd slashes Paige’s arm, the two run down the hallway and right into the room where the ritual is set up. Floyd has pushed them right where he wanted them: in the middle of his setup.

In a final battle Andy and Paige take down Floyd and fatally wound him. When he makes it to the middle of his ritual circle and begins to recite the words to summon Baphomet, they realize that they need to remove him from the middle before he can complete the words. However, Floyd crawls back into the middle and Paige ultimately takes fate into her hands. Picking up the shovel, she decapitates Floyd and ends the ritual once and for all.

After cleaning up and settling in for the night, Paige feels vindication for taking out the killers of Caitlyn. In the morning, Andy wakes up and sees blood on the ceiling panel. When he opens it, he finds a heart. Paige wakes up and immediately they hear the sirens coming down the road. Heading outside, they await the police and begin to explain what happened. Pinning all the murders on Floyd and Shirley, the officer (Phillip Samuel) questions whether there was anyone else involved. Andy and Paige are adamant that it was just those two who were responsible thirty years ago and now. When the police go inside to investigate, another Baphomet costume is found on the top of the motel.
