The season finale opens a few minutes after where we were left off with future Sophie (Kim Cattrall) telling her sonabout what happened after the horrible black out they went on. In the present, everybody decided to go to Pemberton’s (as they usually do) where Sid (Suraj Sharma) takes the opportunity to brag about having made the best decision of his life when buying a generator that now seems to come in handy. The group of friends celebrate when the power is restored thanks to the generator, but their happiness lasts less than a flash vanishing along with the power again. Jesse (Christopher Lowell) informs them that Parker (Meaghan Rath) is safe at her house. Sophie (Hilary Duff) makes a comment about it but it seems that Jesse is still upset with her for what she did earlier. She goes to Val (Francia Raísa) looking for the words of support that would make her feel less miserable about what she did to Parker. Val asks her if she wants her to be “tough or fluff,” which are the terms they use when looking for the other’s feedback about a situation. Sophie chooses “fluff” knowing beforehand that what she did was wrong and had hurt Jesse. Sophie tries to put her mind on something else when suddenly Drew (Josh Peck) shows up offering her his special margarita making the woman to drink it all at once and asking for another. Val watches them in surprise and then she sees Charlie (Tom Ainsley) who is sitting at the other side of the bar repeating to himself that “storms will pass.” She realizes that something is not right with him and goes to offer her support. At first Charlie denies his fear of the storms ashamed of feeling this way but he ends up confessing that when he was a child, even when the storms were roaring loud outside, he was often left alone at home with his four dogs while his mother would go out and have fun with her friends. It appears that he has developed some type of fear because of it, but what Val can make out of his story is that his fears have more to do with him being abandoned rather than the storm itself. So, she promises that if he sticks with her that she would show him how fun this can be and he agrees.

Everyone is scattered all over the bar when suddenly the door opens and Hannah (Ashley Reyes) shows up before the eyes of a very much shocked Sid. She says that she wanted to give him a surprise and decided to go on the last flight before they were cancelled even though she was advised not to but fortunately she made it safe and sound. Jesse sees all of this and feels the urge to go and find Parker, but as soon as he opens the door the heavy rain and strong winds stop him. Plus, he sees a man (Eric Watson) trying to make it through the storm while chanting why he decided to go and see his girlfriend. This makes Jesse reconsider on his plans. Ellen (Tien Tran) is sitting nearby while Drew is making another margarita. All of a sudden she gets a text from Hannah that was supposed to be sent to Eli (Langston Kerman) saying that it was just a one-time thing and it won’t happen again. While all of this happens Drew takes the chance to ask Ellen if he should invite Sophie out and she recommends him to do it without paying the slightest attention as she is still shocked by the text. In that moment Hannah makes her way to the bathroom and Ellen follows her to confront her. When she does it, the other woman tries to trick her into thinking the message was for her and it meant something else, but Ellen does not buy it. This makes her to confess that her and Eli had kissed, but just because she was drunk and she does not plan to tell Sid about it. She then asks Ellen to keep the secret. At first, she refuses to do it since she believes herself to be incapable of doing it. However, then she agrees knowing that Sid and Hannah have finally a chance to be together.

After a while we see Val sharing scary tales with her friends with Charlie being the most entertained about it. Jesse is still anxious and wanting to be with his girlfriend, so he makes the choice to go out again. However, this time is no different than the one before. Ellen approaches Sid and tells him a story just to know how he would react to something like what Hannah did. Sid says that if he were in that same situation that he would like for his wife to tell him the truth. This is the cue for Ellen to go find Hannah and ask her to confess everything.

Meanwhile, Sophie and Drew are making cocktails together and the man takes the chance to talk about his feelings for her. Sophie makes sure to let him know that she does not feel the same. Drew is quick to realize that Sophie still has feelings for Jesse. Thus, he grabs the chance to admit that a while ago when looking for something in the “lost and found” box he saw the receipt where Jesse had written a song for her but he kept it because he thought that if she would find it then his chance to be with her might be over. Although, it seems that said chance was actually never there so he hands her the song saying that she deserves to know what he really feels for her leaving Sophie dumbfounded at this.

Everybody is playing games, even Drew who had been rejected by Sophie, who is still looking at the song until she gathers the courage and asks Jesse for a talk. The two of them go to the back of the place and she confronts him about the song but he denies it.  Unfortunately for him, the song’s name reveals the opposite so he is forced to admit that he did it but that was a long time ago and now things are just different. The conversation gets heated when Sophie calls him a coward for not telling her how he feels but Jesse retorts that she has done the same if what she did to Parker is any proof to that. The two of them continue the arguing until they are in front of their friends who pretend they are not interested in their conversation but then Jesse says that he has moved on and she should do the same then leaves to meet with Parker.

Sophie hides in the basement looking for a moment to think. Val offers her a drink and she takes it gladly, but still does not want to talk. On the other side of the bar Sid tells Ellen that he had given a second thought to what she told him earlier and has changed his mind about what he said. Now, he wouldn’t like to know if his wife had kissed someone else. Right that moment Hannah shows up asking Sid to go with her. Ellen tries to stop her from telling the truth but the woman is convinced this is for the best. They talk in private and although at first, Sid seems to be shaken up by his wife’s confession, he ends up forgiving her saying that he had sort of lied to her to when he had spent a lot of time exchanging texts with Taylor (Caitlin Thompson). The couple decides to start fresh but then Hannah says that after kissing Eli she found a way to escape from L.A. as soon as possible leaving everything behind. This makes Sid asking her that if what happened was just a one-time thing then what was she running from?

Charlie and Val are making cocktails for each other while having fun together when the woman tells him that there have been twenty-five thunders that he hasn’t counted so that proves that sticking with her was a good choice. Charlie opens his heart to her and tells her that even though they want different things now, if he had the chance to go back to that moment they met he would do it all over again just the same way. Later on, Val finally talks to Sophie about what happened between her and Jesse earlier except this time she cannot go soft on her. She shares that she agrees with Jesse that she has been a coward for not saying anything about her feelings for him. Val recognizes the importance of having found someone to love and also being granted with the slightest chance to be together, something that she feels she has lost with Charlie. Sophie gains the courage she needs and goes find Jesse.

Sophie rushes into the street and while trying to open her blue umbrella she sees Jesse who has seemed to think the same way as her. He admits that when he reached Parker’s apartment he realized that he hasn’t moved on and he does not want to. So, they promise that they won’t break each other’s hearts and give themselves a chance. Next, future Sophie says that back then they didn’t know if they will be able to keep that promise but that’s what falling in love is all about, leaving the doubts aside and taking the risk. Sophie and Jesse confess their love each other and share a perfect kiss, right in the middle of the hurricane.

The happy couple enters the bar, which contrasts with the look in Sid’s face that shows signs of devastation. Much to everyone’s surprise Val and Drew (who had been hiding in the basement while Val encouraged Sophie to go after Jesse) are now desperately kissing. Future Sophie confesses that them together was a total disaster, but that served as a way for Val and Charlie to realize they belong together. We then see a picture of the two of them along with their son.
