How To Get Away With Murder – Not Everything’s About Annalise

We watch as Frank (Charlie Weber) sits in his car with Wes (Alfred Enoch). They are having a heated discussion over Annalise (Viola Davis) where Frank accuses Wes of not knowing her very well. “You killed her son. She told me. And now you’re in debt to her,” retorts Wes. We cut back to Frank meeting with detectives. When asked why he would murder Wes, the only thing Frank can say is “Laurel.” The detectives ask Frank if he’d like to have an attorney and he responds, “Naw, I’m done hiding.”

Michaela (Aja Naomi King) is the only one who truly seems to have Annalise’s back. Michaela, Connor (Jack Falahee) and Asher (Matt McGorry) are meeting with the dean of the law school who isn’t trying to hear about Annalise being innocent. Michaela reminds her that people are innocent until proven guilty and puts her in her place by saying, “She is a brilliant, empowering force of legal nature so you should think long and hard before you hang her out to dry!”

Nate meets with the prosecutors on Annalise’s case. The D.A. is putting Nate (Billy Brown) back on Annalise’s case, which has him confused. The D.A. says things have changed noting, “Frank Delfino confessed to killing Wes.” Nate heads to the hospital to meet with Laurel (Karla Souza) who is not interested in giving him a look into her life with Wes and shows him the door after he tells her that Frank has confessed to Wes’ murder.

The new Keating trio meet up to clear the air. Connor wants them to start including Oliver (Conrad Ricamora) because “he knows about Sam.” Michaela and Asher are not too pleased hearing this news.

In the prison, the inmates are still going in on Annalise. We overhear a few of them having a discussion on whether Annalise is guilty, noting that she had been rumored to have killed her husband.

Back at the hospital, Meggy (Corbin Reid) is trying to play pals with Laurel. She brings her pudding and tries to chat her up about what Nate had to say. Laurel is not stupid. Laurel can tell that Meggy has an ulterior motive and ends the conversation.

The Keating three come together for a meeting with Oliver. Michaela, still unsure of Oliver, lets him know where he stands. “Every action you take now has consequences for us.” I think he finally gets the bond these law students share.

The Assistant D.A. meets with Frank to talk about his confession. She doesn’t believe he is guilty, but more likely he is taking the fall for Annalise. She point blank tells him, “Annalise told you to be a good soldier and take the fall for her.” We shall see…

At the prison, Annalise braves the showers. She is nervous and trying to hurry the process along as fast as possible when she hears two inmates behind her making snide remarks. Annalise knows that being aggressive is the best way to back the haters off, but these ladies don’t seem intimidated. Thankfully, her cellmate intervenes and keeps these women from having it out with Annalise. Post shower, Annalise finds out she has a visitor. As if her day isn’t stressful enough…It seems the dean of the school has come to see her, thanks to the words from Michaela earlier. She tells Annalise she’s not there as the dean or her sponsor, but just to see how she’s doing and be there for her.

Nate makes his way into investigation room with Frank. He thinks Frank is trying to fix things for Annalise by confessing, but that theory is shot down when Frank says, “Not everything’s about Annalise.” Hmm. Meanwhile, Bonnie (Liza Weil) meets with Annalise and advises her to put it all on Frank. “He owes you this. He knows that,” notes Bonnie.

At Michaela’s home Asher is doing his best German masseuse voice while holding a tray of candles. He offers, adorably, as “Gustav” to give her a massage. Michaela isn’t really in a relaxed state of mind and is actually a little wierded out by Gustav, but it is such a sweet attempt by Asher that she caves in and tells him where she keeps her tension.

Connor has headed to see Oliver. The two have a heart to heart. While they stop short of having the ultimate “Coliver” reunion we wish for them, Oliver asks for Connor to spend the night. In fact, he asks of Connor, “Will you spoon me?” Of course, Connor agrees and the two assume the position. Oliver balls himself up and says, “Don’t let go.”

Laurel meets with the detectives and says that she saw Frank was in Annalise’s house before the explosion. We can tell she isn’t telling the truth, but can the detectives? We flashback to Wes and Frank in the car together. Wes asks, “You do whatever she wants because you know she’ll leave you. What else have you done for her?” Lord only knows.

In the final episode moments, Bonnie meets with Annalise. She tells her that Frank has been charged in Wes’ murder – as Annalise’s coconspirator! We cut to a clip of the past of Frank sitting in his car while we watch Wes walking away from it. Frank is on the phone telling someone, “We have a puppy problem. He knows Rebecca is dead.”
