Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Would it be easier to understand if I tell you that I like Linkin Park, Slipknot, Bring Me The Horizon and Fever 333?

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) It started with British new wave in the 80s and Metal.

Q) Your new album HYDE [INSIDE] is out. what’s the song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Many of my favorite composers wrote the songs that made up my ideal album and it’s hard to create it just by myself. I make melodies from those songs and add lyrics.

Q) The album includes songs like “Let it Out,” “Pandora,” “Taking Them Down,” “defeat” and a personal favorite which is “Believing in Myself.” Do you have a favorite song or one that was more emotional to perform for you?

A) “I GOT 666” is my favorite. It is intense, yet catchy.

Q) Have you received any feedback for the album that has stayed with you?

A) I received much feedback about the last song on the album, “LAST SONG.” Its music video was shot in Austria and turned out to be sad but beautiful, so the response has been great.

Q) Was there a song from HYDE [INSIDE] that has challenged you the most creatively?

A) “LAST SONG” – I had an image for the song, but it took a lot of work to materialize it. It took me about 5 years to finish it.

Q) Previous to the album you released a single with My First Story called “Mugen” for the anime Demon Slayer. What was that experience like?

A) I am happy to present such a great song. The anime is very affectionate and interesting, so I think the song attracted attention in synergy with the anime.

Q) Speaking Of anime, I know you are no stranger to creating music for the genre. You had previously collaborated with Yoshiki in the making Of “Red Swan” for one of my favorite animes Attack on Titan. What was the process like for that song?

A) I received it from YOSHIKI and sang it. He and I also work together in a band called THE LAST ROCKSTARS and I have the impression that this was the first step. It is filled with his consistent thoughts and feelings and it makes my heart warm when I sing it.

Q) Your international HYDE [INSIDE] LIVE 2024 WORLD TOUR had you playing New York at Brooklyn Steel on November 27th and Los Angeles at the Novo on November 30th. What were you most excited about performing and what can people expect from the show?

A) This is my first solo show in a long time since the pandemic, so I hope everyone hasn’t forgotten about us. People might be surprised at how much of a monster we’ve become during that period.

Q) What do You hope people take away from it?

A) I want to create a chaotic situation like at shows in Japan.

Q) What has it meant to you to be getting more recognition for your music?

A) It is truly happy and rewarding for artists to see their works go beyond borders.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I want Tommy Lee to play the drums. I want to sing with Billie Eilish.

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why?

A) I listen to the revived songs of Linkin Park after their comeback a lot. I think the new vocalist is sensational and cool.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I think my shows are different from others and interesting just to watch. The album is an invitation, so please come to my show after listening to it.
