J MOTOR – Meet In The Sky

Q) How would you describe your sound?

 

A) I like to think I’m a mix of genres, alternative, pop, hip hop etc. This will shine through the more I release music.

 

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

 

A) MGMT, MIA, Tom York, The Beatles, The Gorillaz and lots, lots more. I’m a pretty wild spread.

 

Q) How did the you get your name?

 

A) It started of a nickname or an artist name I came up with years ago. Kind of stuck from there.

 

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Meet In The Sky.” What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

 

A) I think the pop and fun sound of the music is what drives people to like the track. As for lyrics, the line “Till we meet in the sky” connects with people who want to stick together and believe love will find a way.

 

Q) How does the video play into the message of the song?

 

A) The power of people moving together has always had a statement of its own. For this project I think it really represents the song and what it’s about.

 

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

 

A) Yeah, I’m more of a music before lyrics guy, though I do often have subject matters in mind and push to find a way for that to cut through.

 

Q) How much of hand do you have in the production of your music?

 

A) I work very closely with my producers. I let them do their thing, of course, though the overall vision is a team effort.

 

Q) What can fans expect from a live J MOTOR performance?

 

A) I can’t wait to have my set list together! The live show is all about the music. I’m taking my time to be sure to deliver a set list that really connects with my fans. I see a lot of lights and movement in my live show.

 

Q) Will there be an EP or full album coming in the near future?

 

A) 100% I’m working though it every day and can’t wait to reach that point of having a full record to share.

 

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

 

A) I would love to work with Lorde, being from the same side of the world and all. I think we would kill it together and would share a lot of the same ideas. Plus, I kind of have a crush on her.

 

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

 

A) I think it’s great! It gives me more of a chance to reach people and that is what music is about.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

 

A) Stick with me, I’ve got some fire coming, for real!
