Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as eccentric and melodic. You never know which way you’re going to go, when hearing my music. One track may sound like this, and another might sound like that.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) My musical influences are Gwen Stefani, Janet Jackson, Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Adele, Sam Smith, Beyoncé, NeYo and Drake. So many inspirations that’s what inspire why the sounds are so unique but fun.

Q) You spent time as a child writing poetry and dancing. How did that help to prepare you for the artist you are today?

A) It took the shyness away from me, for sure. I used to be so shy with stage fright, doing open mic and spoken word and dancing at talent shows helped me get over that. Now I can’t wait to perform – it’s like second nature.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “What is Love.”

A) Inspired by love songs from both past and present, I wrote “What Is Love” about the many delicate layers of falling in love in every form.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The video shows the softness of my personality and the record, it sets the tone for an innocent girl that’s full of love but doesn’t know how to find it.

Q) “What is Love” is off your upcoming debut album. What made this song standout to you?

A) I honestly wrote this song based on a real question that I have. No particular person I had in mind, but the question “what is love?” is very important because even until this day with all the love I have to give there’s really no explanation to what exactly love feels like. I really want to know.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) I don’t really have a process. I write music according to how I feel at the moment. It can be a beat that gives me inspiration, or it can be just a certain sound I hear in my head that may give me that inspiration also.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) As far as the beats, I let the producers handle the idea that I want to come across. I do love creating things from scratch. That’s when I put together a song like a puzzle piece.

Q) As we mentioned, your debut-album is due out this Fall. What are some themes you’ll be exploring?

A) Oh yes! And I’m super excited about that. I’m diving into house, Afrobeats, alternative; I’m exploring it all. Music is all about exploring. It’s not fun if you can’t test your limits of how far you can go out of your comfort zone. That’s when magic is made.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I can name a few like PartyNextDoor, Adele, SZA, Muni Long and Chris Brown for sure!

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Chris Brown. I am inspired by Chris Brown’s aesthetic and his musical vibes. It’s feel good music. And the way he directs and organizes his visuals are definitely pure talent. Most of his records and visuals I am inspired by!

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) I get to talk to people from around the world from places I’ve never been to. I think that is the coolest thing. If someone heard my song in the United Kingdom and I’m here in the US, that’s really a beautiful thing. I love connecting with people but it’s definitely the next level if I can connect with supporters in other countries. That’s what makes everything so lively.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I just want to say that I love you. Without you I wouldn’t be me. I make music out of love and light and I’m so happy that you guys give me a chance to express who I am through melodies. Stay beautiful.
