Jennifer Elise Cox – Springing Forth
Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) I am on a series airing on Lifetime called “Lovespring International.” It is on Monday nights at 11pm ET. It’s so funny because it’s an all improvised show about a dysfunctional dating service in Tarzana, California. After that, I am doing a show on TBS called “Ten Items or Less.” That is about a bunch of people that work in a grocery store in Ohio. That’s all improvisation, as well.
Q) Please tell us about your character, Tiffany on “Lovespring International.”
A) I love my character on the show! She is Tiffany Riley Clark and she’s that LA Valley girl that thinks they are entitled. She’s the Secretary there and she just feels really put upon for any work they give her. She is that girl who really thinks she should be making $200,000 a year without having to do anything in the office.
Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?
A) It’s amazing that this show is on the air! We did a stock pilot that took four hours and it was two years ago. I remember I was doing a play at the time, doing eight shows a week, and I ran to the pilot so tired. I was just wearing what I had on and we improvised the show. It got picked up and it was a dream because all of the cast are my friends. We would do this for free! We’re just amazed we’re getting paid because we just love to do stuff like this. It’s just a blast!
Q) What has been your most memorable moment from filming?
A) Well, I just shot a scene with Alanis Morissette. Not to get too serious, but she’s an icon! She’s so huge! I feel like she broke down walls for ladies everywhere because she had that song that was so angry and personal. I just love her! She was so cool and just so chill! She was so down to Earth. We were doing this scene and all of a sudden, I just started to improvise a whole bunch of her lyrics and I made her laugh. That was huge! That was really a memorable moment!
Q) You seem to have wonderful comedic timing. Is it natural or is it something you are constantly working at?
A) People laugh at me, even when I am not trying to be funny. So, I guess it just must be the way that I am. In high school, I used to try really dramatic scenes and people would start laughing. I don’t know. I think it just must be my calling. After playing Jan Brady, no one can take you seriously again! I love being funny and not taking things too seriously.
Q) Eric McCormack is an Executive Producer on the show. How is it working with him?
A) Well, I have a gigantic crush on him! I just think the man is so beautiful! He takes my breath away, he’s so beautiful. He’s so sweet, generous and smart. He’s gorgeous!
Q) Why should viewers tune in to “Lovespring International?”
A) I think people should tune into it because it’s a laugh riot. I think anyone can relate to it having worked in an office because we all have. It’s just so funny. We’ve had the best guest stars of any show I’ve ever worked on! Just genius people have been on our show and I think the cast is the best comedic actors I’ve ever worked with. They are so good!
Q) You were featured in Debra Messing’s most memorable moment from the entire show of “Will and Grace.” How did that make you feel?
A) Debra Messing is so sweet, I feel like she’s made my career. After that, I could retire and be happy! For her to say that, I feel so honored. I couldn’t even believe it! I didn’t know she was going to say that was her favorite moment. I was in shock! I am still in shock! They were so generous on that show. Sometimes, you guest star on a show and you think, “Oh, I shouldn’t be too funny.” They just had a wonderful and generous spirit. I loved “Will and Grace!” We’re so lucky because Eric McCormack is producing our show and we had Shawn Hayes on an episode. Hopefully, we’ll get Debra and Megan on the show.
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) I love to go dancing. That’s my big thing. I, actually, (this is going to sound so LA-child) love the clubs. I love to go out to these silly clubs and go dancing with girlfriends. I love spending time with family. We play Scrabble and do dorky family stuff. I like shopping, too. I could spend hours going into stores and not even buying things, necessarily.
Q) What is your latest obsession? A book? A movie? A sport? A band?
A) I am obsessed (like stalker-obsessed) with the band Rk Fire. I am obsessed with their lyrics. I followed them to San Francisco and I met them! I am also obsessed with rap music. It’s so funny because Lifetime gave us iPods and I’ve got all this gangster rap on it. I love it because I like to dance and that’s the best music to dance to. I’m obsessed with Ludacris. I think he’s dreamy.
Q) What would you like to say to all of your fans and supporters?
A) Thank you so much! It blows my mind that I have any fans. I just think of myself as a big nerd. That I have any fans at all, I am amazed. Thanks for your support. I just feel like that I get to do what I love and it’s because of you. Thank you, a million times over!
