Jordi – Just a Friend
By: Sammi Turano
Q) Who are some of your musical influences?
A) I grew up on every genre of music, so I think I definitely took inspiration from a lot of different artists growing up.
Q) “Just a Friend” has already been a huge hit. Did you expect to get such a huge response from it right away?
A) It’s always scary putting something new out into the world for the first time. I’m just so extremely grateful for all of the love it has been shown so far!
Q) What was the inspiration behind Just a Friend and was it based on a specific experience?
A) I wrote just a friend inspired by something that happened in my life. Even though I had to go through something that hurt me, I think it’s so cool that I was able to create something that I feel is so special from it.
Q) What was the biggest challenge about writing “Just a Friend?”
A) I wrote just a friend while sitting in my car. I was in the middle of all of my emotions, and I think just getting yourself to open up about how you are really feeling can honestly be easier when it’s happening in the comfort zone of you and some lyrics.
Q) The music video for “Just a Friend” is incredible. How did you come up with the idea behind it?
A) The director and all of the dancers and cast genuinely helped bring the song to life. I got to incorporate dance, which is my equal love to making music. It was such a fun experience and I’m super happy with how it turned out.
Q) You shot to fame with your song “Hate You.” Did you ever expect the song to be such a huge hit?
A) “Hate You” was my first song entering the music industry, so there were definitely a lot of nerves that went along with that. I genuinely didn’t know what the response would be, but I received more love than I could’ve imagined which makes me so happy.
Q) “Hate You” is a song so many people were able to relate to in their own lives. How does it feel to know you were able to reach so many people with it?
A) I mean, that is always my goal. If I can take a broken heart or any kind of hurt and let other people know they aren’t the only ones feeling that way, that’s a reward within itself. If my song helps someone heal or just be something they need to cry to I’m glad I could give them that.
Q) Who are some people you plan to collaborate with in the future?
A) Collaborations are something that are so exciting to me! Hopefully some will be in the works soon.
Q) You are also a powerhouse in the social media world. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?
A) I think being myself with everyone is one of the reasons my connection with my fans is so special. They have changed my life just as much as I have been able to impact theirs. It’s a good feeling to have a genuineness radiate from people and they never cease to make me feel loved and special.
Q) Your non-music videos are also very entertaining. How do you come up with ideas for them?
A) My brain never stops giving me ideas to embarrass myself on the internet! I do, however, like filming at night because I feel like that’s when I’m most creative.
Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A) Thank you for showing me love in such a special way. You change my life everyday just by being there and for that I wanna give you the biggest hug ever.
