Juliette Goglia Dissects Her Emotional Well-Being In New Single, “Stay Still”
Indie-pop artist and esteemed actress, Juliette Goglia, is set to release her new single “Stay Still”, the first single to be released since her debut EP, I’m Not Sweet (2019). Through “Stay Still”, Juliette expertly shows her craft for creating honest tracks in this thoughtful yet raw song about the rollercoaster of a year that 2020 has been for so many.
In “Stay Still,” Juliette creates lyrics that portray the effects of isolation, uncertainty, and anxiety. The song begins with a solo guitar strumming in 6/8, met with her conversational and almost melancholy voice singing lyrics, “Checking in feels insincere since we’re all stuck in line / But the guy at the front lost his card, or maybe it’s declined / So we’re waiting for some guidance, or waiting for the cure / But half of us are laughing, and drinking at the morgue / And my metaphor’s shaky but I haven’t been the same since Kobe died…” Through her nuanced analysis, Juliette uses “Stay Still” to let listeners know that even in the most isolating times, there are other people who feel the same way, and one day, hopefully we will be on the other side.
Juliette Goglia is an artist born and raised in Los Angeles, California. She grew up before our very eyes through her roles in “That’s So Raven,” “Scandal,” Easy A, “Two and a Half Men,” “Mike and Molly,” and countless other TV shows and films. In 2018, she decided to span across platforms and enter the music industry. Writing honest, raw, and sometimes cynical songs, Juliette’s music drips with all the attitude of the early Katy Perry we all love and miss but with a 2020 alt-indie flair. Juliette writes about the experience of a young person in her early 20s trying to get by day to day and wanting the most out of life.
In her first single since her debut EP I’m Not Sweet, Juliette delivers the same honest and nuanced performance for which she was acclaimed in her previous work, with a bit more alternative folk-y flair. In “Stay Still,” Juliette’s lyrics illustrate the woes, fears, anxieties, and frustrations we’ve all experienced in 2020.
