Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I describe my sound as traditional country with elements of Midwest rock.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Linda Ronstadt, Miranda Lambert, Josh Groban, and Michael Jackson

Q) I love that your husband had a hand in creating your recent single “Beer Bottle Microphone.” Talk about the story behind it.

A) My husband came up with the song title “Beer Bottle Microphone” and I thought that was such a good idea because we see that all the time at our shows. I’ve never heard a song about that before. So, I sat down with the idea and wrote the melody and verse and chorus!

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) The fans connect to the song because they live the story! They let off steam by singing along to the band into their beer bottles.

Q) How does the video for the track play into the message behind it?

A) The music video will definitely help tell the story of the song. I had a few people say to me “oh another song about beer…” and it’s not a song about beer! It’s about letting off steam and singing along to a band into your “beer bottle microphone.”

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A My writing process always varies from song to song. With “Beer Bottle Microphone,” I sat down with this idea and wanted to write a song and the words came first then the melody. But, so many of my songs all come out at once. It’s very hard to explain.

Q) Dave McAfee and Dave Smith lent a hand with production for the song, but how much of a say do you tend to have in the production of your music?

A) I had a lot of say in the production of the song. I love working with McAfee and Smith because they always bring wonderful and creative ideas to the table, but there is no pressure to add them. They give me what I ask for and it’s always a fun and productive time when we work together.

Q) Will there be a full album or EP coming in the near future?

A) No album or EP in the future.

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) My favorite places to perform are new festivals in a place that we’ve never been before, or The Stage on Broadway. I love playing new places and for new faces because I get to see genuine reactions to my original music and meet new friends! But The Stage on Broadway is my home stage. I love all the employees there and we always can count on a wonderful audience. It was the first venue we played on Broadway.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaboration with Miranda Lambert. I love her sassy lyrics and I think we’d create something really good! I think her fans would love my music too!

Q) What artist/musician are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) I am currently listening to Palomino by Miranda Lambert…I know I’m behind the times! I love how groovy it is. It’s still country, but each song has a funk to it.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social Media is an excellent way to connect to fans. It’s free and you can reach every corner of the world! I love some of the feedback I get online. It’s really cool too being a small artist because I have met or know almost all of my fans. They mean everything to me.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) To all my fans and supporters, thank you. I love that I get to share my music with you. Thank you for listening!
