Krysten Ritter – Neptune and Beyond
Q. What are the current projects that you are working on?
A. Well, we just did the first episode of “Veronica Mars” and I flew back to New York and am opening a play tonight so I’ve been doing rehearsals for that. Tonight we’re going up and it is the first night we’re performing in front of an audience! Which is totally scary!
Q. What can you tell us about the premise of Slingshot and your character Beth?
A. That was an independent film that was shot in Springfield, Massachusetts and I play Beth. It’s really hard to describe this one, we were basically club girls sort of that took up David Arquette’s character and Balthazar Getty. This other girl who played Tina, we were like partners in crime, we actually became best friends after that. So, we were in Springfield, Massachusetts, basically in the middle of nowhere, and we were in a hotel and we would shoot pool afterwards. It was really funny because we’re not prostitutes in the movie but we were playing slutty party girls and we were in this hotel in the middle of nowhere and there was actually a Jiffy Lube convention going on and so we were always in the lobby playing pool. The guys from Jiffy Lube thought that we were prostitutes or strippers and we had a huge fight with them. That’s actually one of the best memories I have from working on Slingshot because it was so weird and random.
Q. How was it working with such a prominent and amazing cast of actors?
A. Well, I was really excited, I like David Arquette, when I met him in person he was totally goofy and funny. I was actually sort of already used to it because when I worked on Mona Lisa Smile I got to work with Julia Roberts, lots of stars. I want to be like I’ve sort of gotten over that but one time I met Meryl Streep and I couldn’t even speak!
Q. You’ll be seen in an upcoming episode of the show “Veronica Mars.” Is there anything you can tell us about the episode and your character?
A. I don’t know how much I’m supposed to say about the episode. I can’t tell a lot about the plot because if anything gets out because it’ll spoil everything. I am playing Steve Guttenberg’s character who is a mayoral candidate. It’s my first day of school, I’m an ’09er and since my dad is running for mayor he pulled me from private school and threw me into public school. It’s my first day and I skip a class to go to see a ball game.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. I don’t really have a lot of spare time, I audition every single day, I work a lot and I do theater. When I have nothing to do, and that’s only about one month out of the year, I play guitar.
Q. Is there a summer movie that you’re really interested in checking out?
A. Yeah, I really want to go and see Broken Flowers, I haven’t seen it out yet. I wanted to see My Summer of Love and I want to see Me and You and Everyone We Know, those are the three movies that I really want to see that I haven’t yet. Oh, and I want to see The 40 Year Old Virgin!
Q. Do you have a latest obsession, are you into any particular book, sport or activity?
A. I really like to play pool, I like kicking my boyfriend’s butt at pool, I actually started reading A Movable Feast by Hemingway. I also just finished A Writer’s Diary by Virginia Woolf which I absolutely love.
Q. What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?
A. Thank you and I hope you enjoy my future projects.
