Larisa Oleynik – News Worthy
Q. What are some of the recent projects that you’ve been working on?
A. I recently worked on a film that I am very excited about called Relative Obscurity. It was a really great script to begin with and became one of my favorites because of the dedication and warmth of everyone involved. I am also in the process of (hopefully) developing a television show. We’ll see. Fingers crossed. I’m superstitious and afraid to say too much.
Q. You’ll soon be seen in the television show “Pepper Dennis.” What can you tell us about the premise for the show and your character Brianna?
A. Well, actually, Brianna is only in the first episode for a flash and then doesn’t reappear until about the sixth episode, which we just shot. The show follows Pepper, played by Rebecca Romijn, and I play her pregnant receptionist at the news station where she works. In the first episode, I leave to have the baby and hand over the job to Pepper’s sister, Kathy. Um, Brianna is not necessarily the most loved at the workplace and the episode we just shot involves my coming back to work and trying to kick Kathy out.
Q. What made you want to be a part of this show?
A. It made me laugh and every time they brought me into audition, we (the producers/ writers, casting directors and I) all laughed even more. I haven’t worked that much on the show, but every time I do, I laugh so hard. That, to me, is a great day of work and a day well spent.
Q. Do you have a most memorable moment from working on “Pepper Dennis”?
A. Well, lets just say my character is very different from me and it’s always fun to play a character who behaves in ways that make your jaw drop.
Q. Why should viewers take the time to tune in to this show?
A. I just think it’s a really delicious comedy. Spicy, really. They are really establishing a unique tone for the project. Oh yeah, and everyone’s gorgeous!
Q. When filming did you find there was a lot of chemistry with the cast?
A. This is my third time working with Rider Strong and I always enjoy the opportunity to work again with people who have become friends. I’m young, but I’ve been in this business for so long, that there is hardly a job or audition anymore where I don’t know someone. I love that. Personally, I have enjoyed every job I’ve ever worked on, so I love catching up. It becomes a family of sorts.
Q. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
A. My job is so sporadic and transitory that in my everyday life, I crave routine and really simple things. I love getting up and watering the plants and making coffee, maybe go to a yard sale or just walk around and say hi to everyone else walking around with their dogs and kids.
Q. Do you have a latest obsession? Are you into any particular book, sport, music group or activity?
A. I realized the other day, that my recent addiction of choice is Whole Foods Market and “Felicity.” I’m in the middle of a “Felicity” marathon right now. This past Saturday, I stocked up on all kinds of goodies (mostly cheese and wine) and then proceeded to watch five episodes in a row. Not everyone’s idea of the perfect day off, but it felt like heaven to me.
Q. Now that it is 2006, what are you most looking forward to this year?
A. Isn’t it just wonderful to have a new year? I feel like so much is already changing. I hope that we as a planet are headed for the better, but I’ll start small. I am looking forward to turning twenty-five this year!
Q. What would you like to say to all of your fans and supporters?
A. Thanks for hanging in there, kids. I appreciate your support and hope to give you more motivation and inspiration for continuing to support me real soon!
