Legacies – We’re Not Worthy

Last time on “Legacies” we saw Hope (Danielle Rose Russell) was in a coma, Landon (Aria Shahghasemi) was not rising from the ashes and Josie (Kaylee Bryant) was cured of her dark magic. Now, after the hiatus, all the characters are trying to grapple with recent events.

Let’s start with Landon. We get a voiceover of him reading what appears to be a goodbye letter to his loved ones. He says that he’s sorry he couldn’t be there for them. He is preparing to walk into the light until he is stopped by the very annoyed Necromancer (Ben Geurens).  The Necromancer has plans and he has no intention of executing them without Landon.

Ric (Matt Davis) is calling an assembly early in the morning. He wants to hold one calling for unity, but not everyone is into the idea. Alyssa Chang (Olivia Chiang) is still very angry that Josie killed her and thinks it’s unfair that she’s facing no consequences for holding the school hostage with dark magic. Ric says she wasn’t herself and MG (Quincy Fouse) is just excited to have a field day. Nothing is really resolved on that front. Plus, no one knows what’s really happened to Hope.

After the assembly Lizzie (Jenny Boyd) tells Ric an assembly isn’t enough to make everyone forget what Josie did. However, Ric says it’s the best he’s got and as he’s has a million other fires to put out he needs Lizzie to look after her sister. At first Lizzie’s not sure she can help Josie without resorting to her mean girl tactics, but after seeing Alyssa magically trip her she decides she’s up to the task.

Chad (Charles Jazz Terrier) goes back to the Necromancer’s lair to retrieve his headphones. The Necromancer is MIA. So, Chad decides to have a little fun by pretending to be the Necromancer. While he’s fake summoning some self-respect, a new creature rises from the pit. Think Dany from “Game of Thrones,” but with blue skin. She says her name is Nimue (Theodora Miranne) and she is the Lady of the Lake (King Arthur reference). She needs Chad’s help and they need to go now.

She’s not the only one who needs help. Ric recruits Raf’s (Peyton Alex Smith) assistance because no one can know that Hope is out of commission. He figures that the Necromancer took her out with dark magic and he’s going after him to get some answers. However, it’s not necessary to track him down. The Necromancer angrily barges in and demands that Ric deal with the “backstabbing miscreant.” To Ric it seems like the Necromancer is yelling at thin air. Rafael can see that he’s got Landon with him, or at least Landon’s ghost. Rafael is the only one who can see Landon because of the power of friendship. Long story short, the Necromancer can only raise the dead if they’re willing. Landon is not willing because of the dark magic the Necromancer would get.

Field D`ay is going pretty well. Wade (Elijah B. Moore) is larping and the werewolves and vampires are getting along. MG and Lizzie are happy with the success, but MG reminds her the real test will be when it’s time for all the different factions to team up. Lizzie is convinced this is as good as the day will get through and says that she can’t hope for the best with Josie’s reputation on the line. MG tells her not to do anything drastic. She doesn’t listen, of course. Alyssa is trying to convince everyone to be their team captain. Lizzie interrupts and blackmails everyone into electing her instead. She admits Josie messed up, but says Alyssa has been screwed up her whole life so they should cut Josie some slack. Lizzie wins the vote, but Alyssa gets to choose the game.

Ric and the Necromancer talk. The Necromancer cannot force Landon back into his body and he’s never met a soul as stubborn as Landon. Alaric says they’ll convince him, but only if he undoes the spell on Hope. Unfortunately, the Necromancer says he can’t take credit for what’s wrong with Hope. So, Alaric has to go do some research. In the meantime Raf is given an hour to convince Landon to come back to life.

At Field Day, where there are no teachers around for some reason, Josie is worried. Alyssa chose tug-of-war and got on a team of vampires and werewolves. Josie feels like this won’t end well for her. Lizzie says she should just cast a spell. Josie starts to tell her why that’s a bad idea, but Lizzie’s unmoved. The tug-of-war starts and, because of Alyssa’s plan, Josie ends up yanked into the pit of mud. Alyssa says she’s a mud monster like Malivore.

Rafael is in a classroom with Landon trying to understand what’s going through his head. Landon says it’s simple: if he stays dead then no dark magic for the Necromancer. Plus, his father can’t use his body as a vessel and no one else dies. Yay. But Rafael points out that not everyone because Hope is stuck in a coma. He says that what Landon is doing is just giving up.

Lizzie doesn’t understand why Josie didn’t cast the spell like she said. Josie says she put her magic away. Lizzie doesn’t understand why she didn’t tell her. Josie explains that she tried and that Lizzie attempting to help is the problem. She admits that people have a right to be angry and she’s making everything worse like she used to. Josie tries to storm off and finds the mud magically cleaned from her clothes. Nimue did it. Wade introduces her and says she wants him to give her the sword Alaric loaned him because it’s the actual Excalibur.

The students come to the consensus that handing over the sword is a bad idea because Nimue is probably a bad guy. So, Wade gives the sword to Lizzie and she tells Nimue they won’t negotiate with monsters. Nimue says if monsters are what they fear then they definitely should hand over the sword. She can hide the sword away from the monster linked to her. But if the monster comes, the world will be plunged into darkness. MG says they’ve been here before. There isn’t much time to discuss this because they’re approached by a large knight-like creature. It has a mace for a hand and glowing green eyes. With its arrival the sword is thrown into a nearby stone and day turns to night. Nimue says the challenge has begun and only the worthy shall win.

Nimue tells the kids that the monster is called the Green Knight. He was brave and noble, but his thirst for power corrupted him and he became unworthy to wield Excalibur. He’s moving at a glacial pace because Nimue cursed him. He’ll move slower with every step closer he he takes to the sword. Only a worthy challenger can face him. Nimue says if anyone wants to run for their life now is the last chance to do it. Everyone runs except for the Saltzman twins, MG, Kaleb (Chris Lee), Jed (Ben Levin) and Alyssa. Jed charges the monster and gets thrown to the ground for his effort. Nimue adds that the worthy challenger can only defeat the knight by wielding Excalibur.

Landon tries to sell Raf on the potential pros of a ghost roommate. Rafael thinks Hope might have a problem with a ghost boyfriend. Landon thinks she’d understand, but Raf doesn’t. He goes to the Necromancer and offers himself as a host. If the host body is willing the spirit’s wishes don’t matter as much.

Out on the field there’s a debate about who could be worthy to wield Excalibur. Alyssa says Josie should give it a shot. Lizzie says Josie is the last person who could wield the sword and points out that Alyssa is a killer, too. Then, she says it’s a good thing her parents aren’t here to see the person she’s become. With that said Alyssa says she’s done and on team monster now.

Josie agrees to try to pull the sword as a show of goodwill and Lizzie helps her. It just ends up being a gesture though because the twins can’t pull the sword. Lizzie asks Nimue if there is anything she’s neglected to share.

More squabbling inside the school. Landon is not into the idea of taking over Raphael’s body. Raphael still feels bad about killing Landon under the Necromancer’s control. The Necromancer is more than willing to accept the exchange though. However, they’re interrupted by a door bell. It’s Chad who brings the bad news about Nimue and the sword. Landon tells Raf he should go lend a hand.

On the field all the students have tried, but they haven’t pulled the sword. Jed and Kaleb feel like they should wait for Hope. MG says she’s not coming, but if they believe in themselves they can be a hero like her. Nimue says they won’t be able to. She explains that she is not just being a defeatist as you can only wield Excalibur with the blood of kings in your veins. Everyone is sort of annoyed she didn’t share that fact sooner. But MG isn’t ready to give up and he says they are worthy and they work a plan to prove it.

So, Rafael didn’t go to the field. He instead takes Landon to their room to see an unconscious Hope. He tells Landon that Hope is waiting on him. Rafael explains that if he doesn’t come back than Hope doesn’t come back. Rafael says they’ll save her one way or the other, but it’d be better not to have to explain his death to her. And he tells Landon he doesn’t want her prolonged suffering on his conscience. Rafael admits he can barely handle knowing he hurt Landon.

Jed, Wade and Kaleb are valiantly trying to hold back the Green Knight. Lizzie attempts to set him on fire, but he’s immune to fire so he just gets angrier. MG tries to charge the creature, but gets hit in the ribs and thrown a mile or two. He’s assisted by Rafael, who is as it turns out worthy. He pulls the sword out of the stone and, with a lot of help from his friends, he’s able to drive the sword through the knight’s chest. Nimue thanks him and tells him he’s a descendent of King Arthur. Excalibur is all his now.

Landon looks in on an unconscious Hope and makes the decision to live. He kisses Hope and she wakes up from her coma. Hope is surprised that he’s here. He tells here he’ll be there for her always and forever.

MG and Lizzie have a moment and Lizzie thanks him for always trying to look after her in all her stages. MG reports that Alyssa has left the school for good and Lizzie admits she owes her an apology. They resolve to try and find her. Elsewhere Josie tells Alaric she wants to go stay with their mom for a bit. Alaric agrees that after everything that’s a good idea.

Landon and Hope are also having a moment. Hope is really happy Landon’s not dead. Their talk turns into a make-out scene that is interrupted by Rafael. Hope leaves and Raf tells Landon about the King Arthur connection.

Alyssa and Chad prepare to leave the school. Chad resolves that he is going to make something of his life. Alyssa doesn’t know what is coming next. Alyssa starts to wish him luck, but it ends abruptly with Chad vomiting blood on her and then dropping dead. Since the two were linked, Alyssa makes a beeline for the Necromancer to wonder about her own fate. He gives her an ultimatum – she can join him as an acolyte or share Chad’s fate.
