Pop-punk artist Levi Zadoff from LA and punk artist Dead Hendrix from Ottawa have released a five-track abstract record named “Dead Summer.” This EP tells the harrowing tale of the colossal losses incurred by humanity as a result of the global pandemic. “Dead Summer” represents a broader crisis that the world experienced during COVID, whether it was the loss of loved ones or increased drug misuse. It’s easy to get caught up in the song’s melancholy vocals and hooks, but it’s also full of terrific musicianship and excellent songwriting that makes “Dead Summer” a standout. The project’s use of sound and lyrics as a storytelling mechanism to communicate the COVID summers is innovative and imaginative. “Dead Summer” brings to life the duo’s renowned punk fusion sound, with experimental pop-punk and rap-rock sensibilities, in collaboration with emerging producers IOF (Future, Paris Shadows), Yago Beats, SPLASHGVNG (Lil Peep, Sewerperson), and Imani Beats. The EP begins with a straightforward song named “Don’t Think It Could Get Better.” It becomes more compelling and exciting to listen to as it progresses. The duo did an excellent job mixing melody, edge, counterculture, and relevance onto their latest project.

Both Levi Zadoff and Dead Hendrix were intent on achieving global success in the music industry. Levi creates popular songs by incorporating a variety of lyrical themes and his own life experiences. He feels that music is one of the most effective means of communication and self-expression. Puns, quirky melodies, and trippy samples drive his sound. Levi Zadoff is noted for incorporating elements of pop, punk, rock, and rap into his music. He has headlined shows in San Francisco and Los Angeles, and his music has reached 10M+ streams during the Soundcloud rap era. While Gavin Kratt, who is a punk and rap musician, is best known by his stage name Dead Hendrix. He has been composing music since he was a kid. His music concentrates primarily on emotional themes such as drug misuse, heartbreak, insecurity, and tragedy. He makes music not to acquire wealth or fame but to express the passion that drives him.
