Q) Your new single “Fire” is really empowering as it really shows the value of self-worth, why do you think self-worth is so important?

A) Your self-worth affects how you feel every day. Being confident of what you bring to the table and how amazing you are will in turn affect the energy you give out to others.

I find you attract better things when you are radiating self-belief. If you don’t believe in yourself, why would anybody else? Especially important in my industry where you endure multiple knock backs and unwelcome opinions!

Q) When you sing out this song you ignite your vocals with such powerful sounds. How are you able to achieve these beautiful notes making our hearts crack in the fire as we are in love with your sound?

A) I’d love to say there was some technique to it, but a lot of the time I just open my mouth and hope for the best! I always try and visualize the story and what I’m singing about to give that extra emotion and “oomph.”

Q) What do you feel when you sing your heart out in songs like this?

A) I go back to being the girl in the story. I try to take myself back to how I felt at the time. That’s why each artwork that I paint for my singles is a representation of the girl I was at the time!

Q) Honestly, you’ve dug pretty deep in this song as you talk about a romantic encounter as your partners dealing with a plague of ghosts of ex-lovers. How did you shake off a long day in the studio singing such an emotional song?

A) I’m used to it now. Most of my songs are personal emotional stories, even the songs that “sound happy!” In some ways I get a kick out of it, taking those pent-up feelings and turning it into art – a song that can be timeless and shared with the world.

Q) Do you have to take time to make a decision to open yourself up to the world like this?

A) Honestly, no. It feels very natural for me. I’m an open person anyway, an over-sharer my friends may say. So, it’s kinda just a natural progression that I would share my heart breaks and tribulations through my music. In fact, that’s how I write my best stuff.

Q) What’s been the most rewarding part of singing this hit new single for you?

A) Singing my songs feels like free therapy for me. It’s like finishing the song helps me heal from the reason I started writing it in the first place!

Q) As our world faces trials of escaping through struggles of self-isolation, women are looking to be empowered and black lives are looking to be recognized equally. How do you feel this song may help reach others in finding their “Fire?”

A) And rightfully so, we need to be moving more swiftly towards a world of equality. I think the lyrics “I can’t be someone’s maybe” sums up the world’s mood right now and with the awareness surrounding these ongoing struggles. We need to make sure that people no longer feel like “just a maybe” because of their skin color or sex!

Q) Describe that moment when you realized that “Fire,” was done, that it was complete, and that you had something special, when do you realize this?

A) I normally get a feeling before I’ve even gone to the studio, like when I’m just home alone writing it, when the idea is still a seed but you just feel it has something! I never feel like a song is complete, I always look back and think what could have been better, but then sometimes you just gotta put the music out into the world.

Q) What kind of fan reaction have you received to this track?

A) A lot of people have said it’s their favorite one so far and some people think it’s quite different from the others. A lot of my fans have asked for an acoustic version of it too, so we shall see!

Q) What is it about this song that truly makes it hold such a special place in your heart?

A) It’s a weird feeling actually. I feel many people have loved someone even though they know deep down that person’s heart is elsewhere and it hurts. The power is in realizing that it’s not anything to do with you not being good enough. It’s just this confusing thing we call love and you’ll find in life that you’ll experience both sides of the coin. But you can’t let it dishearten you!

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Adam Levine. I’m in love with his tone. I’ve been obsessed with Maroon 5 for years and I just think they have sick tunes!

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who are fans and supporters of you and your music?

A) How would you feel about an acoustic EP? [smiles]
