Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) Rock. I know that’s a super general term — but that’s kinda the point. It’s an evasion of specifics. Frees you up. It also maybe confuses people, but whatever

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) Pretty much everything. Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, REM, ABBA, Nirvana, AC/DC, Prince, Screaming Trees…take your pick.

Q) Talk about the story behind your new song “Innocents.”

A) We were asked to write a bunch of songs for a movie and that’s one of the ones we came up with. “Purple Rain” is my favorite rock soundtrack and that served as a model for a lot of the tunes. Shit like “Beautiful Ones.”

Q) What do you think it is about the song that fans connect to?

A) I dunno. Could be the lyrics. But some people don’t really give a shit about lyrics —and that’s fine, too.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Music usually comes first. But I do keep a record of lyrical ideas that I usually expand on later.

Q) Talk about working with iconic producer Roy Thomas Baker on your Pack Up The Cats.

A) Roy was everything you thought he’d be. His records are perfect reflections of his personality – big.

Q) What songs off the Pack Up The Cats album do you truly enjoy performing live?

A) Pretty much all of them. “Hit The Skids” and “Fine And Good.” “Lucky Time” is especially fun.

Q) 20 years is such a milestone! What does this accomplishment mean to you?

A) I don’t know. All records turn 20 eventually, right?

Q) What do you think it is about songs like “All-Right (Oh Yeah)” and “All The Kids Are Right” that continue to make them such fan favorites?

A) I think maybe they inspire completely different reactions. “All-Right” elicits a kind of mindless response. “All The Kids” is probably all about the sing along.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) The guys in Twin Peaks.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Dead Now. Their EP is pretty great.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Seems to me that it’s just the way it is now. There’s good parts about it and there’s parts that fucking suck.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you. We try to show it every night.
