Q) How would you best describe your sound?

A) Rock? Who knows? I used to think we were alternative — but not according to what everybody else calls alternative now. Technically, we’re indie because we’re independent. But I look up indie now and it’s all shit that’s on major labels. So, really, who the fuck knows?

Q) Who are some artists that influenced you when you were growing up?

A) ABBA. Yes, really.

Q) What inspired the reissue of your 2004 album Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles?

A) Because it’s twenty years old. That’s usually the first legit anniversary for reissues. For me, anyway. Some people do ten years, but that’s just a load of horseshit. What’s next? 5-year anniversaries?

Q) With a September 13threlease date of the reissue, what is something new about the 20thAnniversary edition that Local H fans can look forward to?

A) We really worked hard on the remaster. We didn’t just make it louder and chuck it out there. There was a lot of care put into it. We also fixed the cover. There’s a special place in hell for the dude that fucked up the cover on the original release.

Q) Which song(s) was your favorite to write and record for Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles and what makes it so significant for you?

A) I like them all. This a pretty special record to me. It’s definitely my favorite and I love playing it live.

Q) With the 20thanniversary of Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles, you’re also set to tour this fall. What can fans look forward to with the tour?

A) We play the record, but not necessarily front to back. Sometimes we like to shuffle it up. The other night we played it backwards. That didn’t go over so well. Turns out the sequencing on the record is pretty good.

Q) Which song off of Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles is your favorite to perform at live shows?

A) “Mellowed”

Q) What does it mean to you that Whatever Happened to P.J. Soles remains such a fan favorite album?

A) It means a lot. I think the record was a little misunderstood when it was first released. Some people didn’t quite understand what we were going for. But it’s aged pretty well, and people seem to dig it now.

Q) Who are some artists you would love to collaborate with in the future or that you think people should keep an eye out for?

A) There’s this guy I just made a record with named Tanner Dane. I think his record is pretty great.

Q) In your 30+ years as a band, what was the best advice you had ever received that you would share with any up and coming band?

A) Pay people.

Q) What would you like to say to your fans and supporters of your music?

A) Thank you. Seriously.
