In Lucifer’s eleventh episode of the second season titled Stewardess Interruptus, we see Chloe (Lauren German) and the devil himself Lucifer (Tom Ellis) right where the winter hiatus left us in an intimate moment seemingly about to take their will-they-won’t-they relationship to the next level – only to have real life crash in and throw a few obstacles at the pair before the episode’s end that put a hold on their closeness.

Lucifer and Chloe are seen at the beginning of the episode as close as the audience has ever seen them to kissing. Burgers and fries are left forgotten as the two get closer and closer until and unlikely force lands in Lucifer’s penthouse. Jana (Jennifer Cheon), a flight attendant, drops in unannounced and much to Lucifer’s shock as Jana starts to strip. Chloe starts to leave as Lucifer tries to stop her, asking her to not be angry and that he didn’t know she was going to be there. As Lucifer watches Chloe get on the elevator she tells him that she was glad Jana showed up because it kept her from making a “big mistake.” The doors close, Jana walks over to him and starts to bite at his ear when Lucifer tells her that nothing is happening and walks away.

Chloe is making breakfast for Trixie (Scarlett Estevez) when Trixie informs her that she doesn’t like eggs. This takes Chloe by surprise asking her when she decided she didn’t like eggs to which Trixie holds up a cereal box that Maze (Lesley-Ann Brandt) had gotten for her. Chloe lets Trixie have some cereal since she missed story time the night before. When Trixie asks if she was working Chloe tells her that she had dinner with Lucifer. Trixie asks if it was a date and Chloe denies any of that. Trixie asks why her cheeks are getting red only to have Chloe start tickling her and Maze walks in tossing a newspaper on the counter top with a front-page article about the death of Perry Smith (Alex Fernandez). Maze asks Chloe why she’s not happy, saying her father’s killer got what he deserved. Chloe replies, “What he deserved was to rot in jail for the rest of his life. And that whoever did it was no better than he was.” When Chloe walks away, Maze grabs a bowl with cereal, pours vodka in it and starts to eat it with force.

Charlotte (Tricia Helfer) goes to Lucifer to talk to him about Chloe causing Lucifer to think the worst. Charlotte tells him that she was wrong and that Chloe was good for him. Lucifer then tells Charlotte that he ruined things only to have Charlotte say that maybe it’s time for Lucifer to prove himself to Chloe. At the crime scene, Chloe tells Lucifer that he doesn’t have to prove himself to her because they are two very different people and two different personalities. Lucifer tells her that nothing happened after she left and that the old Lucifer is gone since they had their moment and he vows to never see Jana again until they find out that their victim is in fact Jana herself. Chloe asks Lucifer what happened with Jana and he tells her Jana left five minutes after she left. Chloe asks about what happened five minutes before that, which causes Lucifer to ask if Chloe was jealous. She denies saying that noting, “A lot can happen in five minutes.”

They find Jana’s phone and find an unknown number that revealed threatening text messages. Dan (Kevin Alejandro) learns it is from an Andy Kleinburg (Jamie Kennedy), but cuts the call short when he notices Maze is waiting for him at in the bullpen. When asked why she’s there, Maze holds up the newspaper and tells him that are basically famous before Dan rips the newspaper out of her hand saying she can’t brag about what they did in a police precinct. Maze tells him to calm down and that she came to get her check. She also asks if he wants to celebrate their “kill” only to have Dan tell her that they cannot be seen together until the whole thing blows over.

Chloe and Lucifer go to Andy Kleinburg’s beach house where Lucifer tells her he should get an inflatable pool slide for LUX. This, yet again, causes Chloe to get jealous thinking about the women. Lucifer tries yet again to tell her nothing happened between him and Jana after she left. She tells Lucifer that she believes him, but it doesn’t change anything. She explains, “Look at this party. This is probably your definition of fun, isn’t it? Okay, well fun for me is being home with Trixie reading her a book. But that is okay, we are different.” Once they confront Andy they tell him of Jana’s death. He is all calm about it and he tells them that she said she was hooking up with some DJ named Lucifer (which Lucifer takes as an insult) who threatened to cut her off from sleeping with him. Chloe tells Lucifer she doesn’t think Andy is their killer when Chloe’s phone goes off. She tells Lucifer that there has been another murder of another flight attendant.

When they arrive at the crime scene, Dan tells them that the victim was in the shower when he was killed and it looks like he was tortured. When Chloe says that it looks like Lucifer had nothing to do with the case it is revealed that the victim was someone that Lucifer did sleep with. Chloe and Lucifer walk out of the house when Chloe tells Lucifer that the situation is not good. He thinks she means that a man was his lover and tells her it’s the 21st Century. She clarifies that the problem is he slept with both the victims and that there was no connection between the two except him. Chloe starts thinking that maybe the whole thing was about desires and that someone got jealous and wanted Lucifer to themselves so they started killing. Chloe tells Lucifer that they need to warn his exes so she wanted a list of names of everyone he has slept with in the last eight weeks. The police station is flooded with men and women that Lucifer has slept with, to which Dan is getting extreme joy of the women around him. Chloe, on the other hand, has her jealously rising in each moment. She analyzes them as they walk through the door. Lucifer tells Dan he doesn’t believe one of his exes could kill someone to which Dan says, “People will go to crazy lengths for someone they love.” As Chloe is questioning each person and she starts asking things that are related mostly to how they would react in her shoes. She grows more uncomfortable and jealous every time one of them mentioned that “He did this one thing” as Lucifer explains the whole thing to Dan. When Chloe asks if Lucifer ever bought them dinner or anything special like burgers and fries they all say no – that it was just for sex and nothing more and that they would never hurt anyone over him. And there was no emotional connection and that it was meaningless. The last woman who comes in shocks both Dan and Lucifer.

Charlotte comes in the interrogation room and thanks Chloe for calling her because she wanted to see her. She tells Chloe that she impresses her and that she gave Chloe all the reasons to betray Lucifer. Chloe agrees and says Charlotte went to great lengths to hurt Lucifer during her father’s trail. Charlotte denies it and says that she would never hurt Lucifer and that she wanted to show Chloe she was worthy of Lucifer. When asked about the other women, Charlotte says that, “You’re different. He’s different when he’s with you.” When asked if that threatens her, Charlotte said at first yes but now it makes her happy. We see behind the mirror Dan asks Lucifer to not tell Chloe about him and Charlotte. Lucifer agrees to if Dan never touches her again.

Maze ends up so confused and upset that she goes to see Dr. Linda (Rachael Harris), and tells her that she feels as though the people she’s done awesome things for just don’t care. Linda tells Maze that she’s a therapist and that it’s in the job description to feel that way. Then, she gives an example about how a friend uses their lunch break for free therapy and the other friend doesn’t say thank you. This causes Maze to ask if Linda wants her to take care of this “friend.” When asked how Linda deals with it, she tells Maze that “Self-worth comes from within.” Linda calls Maze a person, which upsets Maze. She tells her to take it back, but Linda says that Maze is awesome that’s all it takes for Maze to get out of her funk.

Chloe is still questioning the women and they all pointed her to Suki Price (Diana Bang) who is Lucifer’s stalker who was creeping around LUX. Lucifer couldn’t remember her at all tough. When they go inside her apartment it’s covered in photos of Lucifer and all the people he has been with in a timeline. When they see Suki, she seems crazy, but also very helpful to their investigation. When Chloe asks Suki who the third person was in the picture she tells him that he was a pilot friend of Raj and Jana. Charlotte meets up with Amenadiel (D.B. Woodside) to talk about how using Chloe against Lucifer will not end well.

Dan tells Chloe and Lucifer that the pilot is Tim Pickman (Toby Levins) who works for a private airline. Tim is relieved to find that Chloe is a cop and not someone trying to kill him. When asked how would try to kill him he says someone he works for named Burt (Joe Williamson) uses young women to smuggle drugs. He tells Chloe that on Jana’s last flight she went missing. They bring in Maze who acts like she was the flight attendant who has his package. Amenadiel goes to see Lucifer and tells him he doesn’t seem to be someone to get emotionally attached to anyone. Asking if it was about Chloe he tells Lucifer that, “If you wanna know if you’re a worthy romantic partner, ask yourself.” Maze talks to Dan where she spills the beans about him and Charlotte while Chloe can hear from his wire. Chloe and Lucifer get into an argument about their moment when she tells him she needs air and for him to take a walk. When Maze takes “Burt” to the room, she gets him to confess that someone payed him to be Burt in order to distract them. Chloe and Dan come in only to find out that the real man has gone after Lucifer.

Burt holds Lucifer at gun point asking for his package. Lucifer tells him he doesn’t have it, but when Burt insults Jana this makes Lucifer angry. Lucifer tells Burt that Jana deserved more than either of them and ends up showing his true face. Burt drops into the fetal position, begging to be arrested. We see Andy walking through the hanger very sick when a man all in black kills him for the vials and walks away. Chloe finds Lucifer on the beach telling him she tracked his phone’s GPS to find him. Lucifer tells her he changed his mind and that it would never work out between them. He tells her she deserves someone worthy of her and it wasn’t him. After spilling his heart to Chloe, she agrees that he is probably right and she kisses him. When he looks at her confused, she responds with another kiss.
