Q) Now that Randall has won the election, how will it further effect family dynamics with having to be away for council duty?

A) Honestly, I’m wondering the same thing. It definitely seems like it will be a trying journey.  But I think the Pearson tribe has proven themselves to be loving and supportive of one another.  So, hopefully this will add to them.

Q) With Tess going through a wide range of teenage emotion, will it bring her sisters together or wedge them farther apart?

A) Tess (Eris Baker), Annie (Faithe Herman) and Deja are all in different stages of their young lives and different stages bring different challenges.  I don’t doubt they will have their sisterly fights, but I am hoping they will learn to push through.

Q) Your powerful performances and introduction on “This Is Us” took hearts by storm in 2018. Every tug of emotion, hurt or heartache really resonated with fans. Which performance was the hardest on you and how did you work through carrying such heavy scenes?

A) There are several, but one that comes to mind is Season 2 episode 17 when Deja reveals her true feelings and state of exhaustion to Randall (Sterling K. Brown).  I felt like it was the moment where Deja was at her weakest point.  She’s had to be the adult in her home most of her life, having faith when it seemed to be nothing more to hold on to.  Basically, there were years of compressed emotions I had to present in one scene.  In order to get ready for filming, I prayed, and I practiced until it felt genuine; until it felt right.  It’s a depth of genuineness I look for.

Q) Beth has been dealing with her own issues ever since she was let go from work and the campaign has added to tensions between her and Randall. How will their struggles continue to have an effect on their relationship with the girls?

A) Definitely something all the viewers (including myself) want to know!  I believe they are a pretty strong unit.  Not to say it will be easy though.

Q) We saw some touching and tender moments that have tested the Pearson’s, what can you tease about what we will see going foresee this season?

A) All I can say is—I can’t say anything.  Wouldn’t want to spoil it for anyone! I would also like to keep my job…

Q) “This Is Us” balances so many issues so well while providing layers of love and lessons. What’s been the most rewarding part for you being a part of such an incredible series?

A) The fact that I get to work with such amazing actors on a regular basis.  Whether they know it or not, they challenge me to push myself in ways I never thought I would.  And for that I am truly grateful.

Q) What are some of the messages from this season that you hope fans are taking away?

A) I hope that those who needed it have gotten a message of love, hope and forgiveness.  I think those were very present messages this season.

Q) Will we maybe see the Pearsons be taking any steps towards therapy to help them work through some of their family issues?

A) That would definitely be a question for Mr. Fogelman.

Q) What have you taken away from being part of the series?

A) One unique thing I have gotten from being a part of “This Is Us” is just how special it is for the viewers to see “themselves” on the screen. There have been so many times when viewers have reached out to me just to say “thank you” for telling “their story.”  To think that I’m really touching people and possibly even changing a life while doing something I love could never get old.  I’m so grateful.

Q) Are there any other projects outside of This Is Us that you are working on or activities you are passionate about?

A) I’m not currently working on any other projects right now.  But the way things are looking, I should have more to report soon.
