Q) Where did the inspiration to write your new song “Juntos” come from?

 

A) In “Juntos,” I was inspired by the current state of the world, where division often overshadows unity. The lyrics express a longing to be with someone special, a metaphor for the larger need for togetherness in society. Phrases like “El universo es nuestro juntos” (The universe is ours together) and “Juntos podemos triunfar” (Together we can triumph) embody the idea that when we are united, whether in love or in community, we are stronger and can overcome any obstacle.

 

Q) Were there some collaborations of any kind in the making of “Juntos?”

 

A) I am not a native Spanish speaker. I wrote the song in English and translated it into Spanish (and later Japanese). To make sure my Spanish translation sounded good, I asked my high school Spanish (and Performing Arts) teacher to check it.

A drummer friend played on it to add some extra oomph to the beat that I produced. I also had help mixing and mastering the song.

 

Q) Did you listen to any music while making the song that helped you in writing it?

 

A) That’s a tricky question. I’m listening to new music all the time. My inspirations come from many places, including things I’ve done and seen. For sure, listening to great artists is part of my motivation as well.

 

Q)  Considering the depth of the message behind the song “Juntos,” did you face some difficulties in writing it?

 

A) Like many of my songs, “Juntos” took a while to develop. Lyrically, it took time, but finding the right instrumentation to go with it took even longer.

 

Q) If you could make “Juntos” a feature with another artist, who would you choose and why?

 

A) One idea I have toyed with is doing a Spanish – English version. Maybe a native Spanish speaker could do the English parts, and I could do the Spanish parts to mix it up.

 

Q) What do you wish your audience can take from this song?  

 

A) I want my audience to understand the power of presence and connection, as highlighted in “Juntos.” The song emphasizes the importance of being there for each other and how much we can achieve when we are together (“Nada importa más que estar juntos”). It’s about cherishing each moment with loved ones and realizing that our connections are what truly make our lives rich and meaningful.

 

Q) Since “Juntos” means “Together,” what role do you think music can play in unifying people, especially in times like this?

 

A) I believe music, much like the message of “Juntos,” serves as a universal language that transcends cultural and linguistic barriers. In times like these, music can be a powerful tool for bringing people together, providing a shared experience that goes beyond words. It has the unique ability to convey emotions and messages that resonate with a wide audience, creating a sense of commonality and understanding among diverse groups.

 

Q) Is there any difference for you in writing songs in English, like your previous single, and in Spanish like “Juntos?”

 

A) What’s fascinating is how the worlds come together. Latin music has gone global. Songs in English were popular in many countries, but now things are getting mixed more, with many more crossover Latin artists in English-speaking countries.

There are some fantastic women in Latin music that I love, but guys still dominate those markets. There are few female crossovers from English to Spanish. Maybe I could be one of them.

 

Q) Are you planning something for the future, like new music or some live performances, that you can anticipate for your fan who will read this interview?

 

A) You can report here some news.

I have a new single coming out this year and another one early next year.

For the one next year, I just shot a great music video with a team in Miami that I worked with before. They have made videos for famous artists living in or coming through Miami like Pitbull, Shakira, etc.

I’m also planning a new album for next year.

 

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work? 

 

A) Thanks so much for being a fan. I appreciate everyone who listens to my music, shares it with their friends, comes to my concerts or buys my merch. It all makes it worth doing.
