Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I would describe my sound as a mix of R&B and Pop.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I could go on and on, but to name a few of course we will start with Whitney Houston, Babyface, Maroon5, The Beatles, Mint Condition, Mariah Carey, Lionel Richie, Prince, EnVogue and Toni Braxton. These artist influence more than just my sound, but the career I inspire to have.

Q) What is your song writing process? Do you need music before you can create lyrics?

A) Depends on the moment, the producer and the co-writers. There are many times when we are in the studio and my mind is already racing with thoughts that I just need to get out. At times, I sit with my team and I spill my heart out on the floor and it just flows into a song.

Q) How much of a hand do you have in the production of your music?

A) The great part about having a team is being able to connect. Over the years we have been able to adapt to each other and work together to find me.

Q) How did you decide to cover some of your favorite songs acoustically with Stripped?

A) The songs chose me. Sometimes you just want to put a different spin on some of your favorites.

Q) What songs off your EP hold a special place in your heart and why?

A) “Too Bad For You,” “Broken” and “Unsaid.” Musically, they just sound amazing, not that the others don’t, but they just are deep meaning songs that lyrically make you think about your love life and your experiences. I can’t wait to perform them live once again.

Q) What made you decide to cover Emeli Sande’s song “Breaking the Law?”

A) “Breaking the Law” was the perfect song to explain my relationship with God and how he loves me unconditionally. Whether I’m right or wrong, I learn my lesson and he’s there to protect me always.

Q) What do you hope listeners take away from listening to your new EP as a whole?

A) I hope they fall in love with not only the vocality and musicality of the record, but that they can relate to my pain and know that they can get through it. I always want people listening to my music to walk away knowing that I’m right here with you and everything will be ok.

Q) You’ve got some new music in the works for this Spring. What can you tease about some themes you’ll explore?

A) Love, love and more love and, hopefully, a song or two about overcoming life’s challenges. I can’t wait for people to hear what we have coming and, while there will be a few releases before the album, it will be well worth the wait. [smiles]

Q) Where are some of your favorite places to perform and what makes those locations so significant to you?

A) I love them all but there’s NY, LA, Boston and Miami that always feel close to me. House of Blues, Soho House, BB Kings, SOB’s – to name a few were all amazing. I almost forgot Nashville was like a dream. You feel the love of music as soon as you step off the plane.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) I would love to collaborate with Tory Lanez, T-Pain and, of course, I would love to work with BabyFace, NeYo…I could literally keep going on with this list because there are so many artists and creators that are great.

Q) What album/band are you currently listening to and why do you dig them?

A) Justin Bieber! His album Changes reminds me of his album Journals, which was so soothing to listen to from beginning to end. It almost reminds me of how I want my album to be. Perfect mix of Pop and R&B.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Social media is great because it gives fans the chance to see you in a different way besides performing. It’s a way for people to be able to relate to me as a person and more than just an artist. Sometimes it feels like as an artist we may come across flawless all the time, but we have our imperfections like everyone else. We love to cook like everyone else and our hair fizzes up like everyone else. It’s ok to showcase that sometimes.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) I still smile every time someone says “fans” and my name in the same sentence. I’m just so thankful that there are people listening to my music. I will forever be grateful for every tweet, IG story and every stream. You guys lift me up every day! Every single day!
