Miles Brown: Black-ish

Q) What are the recent projects that you are working on?

A) I just had a cameo in a short film called Two Bellmen. I also finished a new video with Biz Markie. I did a cameo in a comedy skit with Comedy Central’s “Drunk History.” Most recently, I was cast and filmed the independent movie Sweet Life.

Q) What made you originally want to be a part of “Black-ish?”

A) I always wanted to be a cast member of a TV series or movie. I was offered to do another pilot for a TV show, but this script/offer was a better fit for me.

Q) How was your character, Jack, originally described to you?

A) Jack was described to me as a normal kid, who is a twin, who goes to private school and tends to follow his twin’s lead.

Q) Was there anything you added to the role that wasn’t originally scripted for you?

A) I added the hyperness along with my dancing to the character. I also gave little hints that I was not actually the smarter of the twins, but I was the more mischievous like a smart aleck.

Q) You have great chemistry with your onscreen family. Did it come instantly or did you spend some time to bond?

A) I would say both. During pre photo shoots we got to know each other with all of the joking and horse playing around. It was easy to go into the pilot with each other.

Q) What has been some of your most memorable moments from filming?

A) It was filming the bro-mitzvah in the pilot’s dance battle. I also liked doing my own stunts (sliding down the stairs and top of the ice cream truck), playing a homeless character and dressing up as the Jackson 5. I liked filming the season finale’s dance battle and working with Puffy, too!

Q) What do you think it is about “Black-ish” that has made it such a fast fan favorite show?

A) The chemistry made it funny for everyone to love quickly, but also because everyone was worried at the beginning about the show’s title. Once they started watching it, all of that worry went away quickly and more people started tuning in.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) The fans actually feel like you care about them, which we do! And even though I don’t have a phone, my parents help monitor my social media. Lastly, I’ve learned that the fans matter just as much as the show does.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you to everyone who has helped me get to this point in my life like the dance community, my school, my friends and especially my family. Without you, I wouldn’t have had these opportunities given to me. And to the fans out there, remember to always have fun, dream big and inspire many!
