Mina Olivra – Tool Time

Q.  What are the current projects that you are working on?

A.  Okay so I just finished a film for Showtime called The Invitation and it will premiere on Showtime in September.  That was really fun!

Q.  Can you tell us about the premise for the movie Mr. Fix It, which you star in, and about your character Kristina?

A.  That film, I filmed it like eight months ago, and it’s about this guy that gets hired by men when their girlfriends leave them to date the girlfriend.  So, he’s such a bad date that he makes it so that they go back to the ex-boyfriend.  So, it’s called Mr. Fix It and my role, I’m playing the girlfriend of the best friend of the lead.  The story is that he broke up with me because he never could express how he felt or what he wanted so I end up just leaving him.  In the end we get back together and he tells me he has this penguin fetish and he wants me to wear this penguin outfit.  Paul Sorvino is in it and David (Boreanaz) from “Angel” and this actress Alana De La Garza, she did the show “The Mountain.”  I don’t know when it is going to be released, I think that they are still editing it but it’s a fun comedy, it’s a little bit like Hitch, it’s a man trying to help other men to get back with their loved ones.

Q.  What made you want to be a part of this project?

A.  Well, you know I thought the script was pretty funny, I liked the script and the person who was casting at the time, I really respected her.  She’s the casting lady from “The Shield” and she casts “Cold Case” so I knew it would be interesting.  The cast was good too, I really admire Paul Sorvino, I think he’s done some great work, I loved him in the movie The Cooler, so the cast and the script were good.

Q.  When Mr. Fix It hits theaters, why should viewers take the time to check it out?

A.  It’s a fun comedy, it is entertainment, it’s a cute romantic comedy, it’s like a feel good movie.

Q.  Do you have a most memorable moment from filming Mr. Fix It?

A.  I mean the scenes I had to be in that wild outfit I will remember for the rest of my life because I was really nervous about it.  I think in the end it worked, that was hard.

Q.  You are in the movie Bewitched, are you a fan of the original show?

A.  Yes, I used to love watching it when I was a kid, I remember I think they had those shows like everyday and I loved it.  Actually, when I first moved to the U.S. the first movie I ever saw in English and understood was Sleepless In Seattle and I would never imagine that I would work with Nora Ephron later on.  That was surprising and so great, I love the original show.  It was so fun to work with Will Ferrell and Nicole Kidman, so great, they are so good with their craft, and Nora is so kind and so nice.

Q.  You’ve appeared on the hilarious show “Reno 911,” with all the hilarity that goes on, is filming difficult to go through?

A.  You know “Reno” is a really special show because nothing is scripted, everything is improv.  That’s what I love about it, you just never know how it’s going to come out.  Every time you try it, you try it differently, I think it’s great, for me I love improv and I studied at The Groundlings back in Brazil, where I am from.  It’s great and their cast is so talented, they know it’s going to be great, you don’t even rehearse you just go on and figure out what you’re going to say.  The people involved are so great, Tom and Ben and Kerri, the producers and creators of the show, they are so giving and generous, it’s really wonderful.

Q.  Is there a summer movie that you are really interested in checking out?

A.  I’m interested in seeing Batman because it’s going to be different than usual, they’re going to do it well and I really like Christian Bale, he babysat my dog once.

Q.  What is your latest obsession, are you into any particular sport, director, music group, book or activity?

A.  Well, there are two directors that I’d really love to work with and one of them is Walter Salles, he’s the director for The Motorcycle Diaries, and the other one is Pedro Almodovar who directed All About My Mother.  I mean for some reason every time I see his movies it really touches me.  Something that I am in to lately is that I am hooked into this TV show “Lost,” I love their show.  I think it’s the first TV show that I actually follow every single episode.

Q.  What would you like to say to your fans and supporters?

A.  Well, first I’d like to say that I really appreciate all of the letters that I’ve been getting and it’s so great.  I’ve been getting so many kind remarks and people are being so supportive, I just want to say how much I appreciate it and it’s such a great feeling to get that kind of support.
