Mircea Monroe – More Than Friends
Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) I have been working pretty much nonstop since January. I got back in town last week and I am just taking a breath for a moment for the holidays and then we’ll see.
Q) Tell us about your character Betty in the film Just Friends.
A) I play a dumb air headed model. It was really fun and I was just one of these girls that Ryan Reynolds encounters that makes his feelings toward Jamie (played by Amy Smart) even stronger.
Q) What made you want to be a part of this project?
A) Roger Kimble, the director, is fantastic. He really asks your opinion and allows you to have input. He lets you be creative, which is really important. Also, Ryan is so talented!
Q) How was it working with Chris Klein and Ryan Reynolds?
A) Both of them are stand up people. They are good actors, but also really good people!
Q) What is your most memorable moment from filming?
A) That one was just completely fun. It was an overall good experience. I have had crazier things happen on other films, but with this one it was just an overall good and fun thing to do.
Q) Why should viewers take the time to see Just Friends?
A) It’s a great movie! It’s fun, sweet and worth it. With everything going on in the world, I think it’s so important to laugh and see a film like this.
Q) What has been your favorite project to work on and why?
A) One of my favorites was for a pilot that I did, which unfortunately didn’t get picked up. It was the first time I did comedy and it was a sitcom. I kind of found a new niche that I really love and hadn’t had a chance to do yet. The people involved were amazing. Also, I liked the film I just did called The Ultimate Gift, because the story was just so positive, has such meaning and has such heart which is great to be a part of.
Q) How do you prepare for your roles?
A) It mostly depends on the roles. I always do my homework and do the back-story, where the character was physically and emotionally the moment before the scene. I always know my character’s point of view and sort of dive into the person that I am playing so I can sort of become her. That gets painful because you have to be really truthful. I’ll just immerse myself in that, researching and asking people questions from individuals who have had similar experiences. It’s really about who the person is at their core and understanding that.
Q) What are your other passions besides acting?
A) There are so many! I love being outside and active. I like hiking, rollerblading and yoga. I take a writing class every Sunday that is taught by this amazing woman named Daisy who just is so smart and quick witted. The people are really talented and it’s nice to have. Acting is sort of my life, obviously, and is my passion, but it’s nice to have things that have the focus on other things. I think it’s important to be well rounded. I like to paint and my dining room is an arts and crafts center. I like comedy shows, too. I like how there are so many brilliant people. In LA, you can kind of walk a block and experience different kinds of creative performances. I like to go out and do all of those things.
Q) Who would you most like to work with in the future and why?
A) I would love to work with Meryl Streep. I just think she is incredible! There are so many amazing actors and directors. I’d love to work with Al Pacino. There are comedians that I’d like to work with, also. I literally could list hundreds of people.
Q) Thanksgiving is coming up. What are you most thankful for this year?
A) I am thankful for my health and my friends. I have the most incredible, loving, giving and kind people in my life that it’s just unreal the kind of love and support that I have.
Q) What would you like to say to all of your fans and supporters?
A) It’s crazy to me that I get letters! I can’t fathom it! I am really appreciative and I hope that I am worthy. I hope I can do things in my career that will entice people. I hope that I am really earning the support and attention that I am getting.
