Mitchel Musso – All the Right Notes
Q) What are the current projects that you are working on?
A) I have a movie still in the making now called Monster House and Steven Speilberg and Robert Zemeckis produced it. I got to play DJ, the main boy. I think that the trailers are in theaters now! It’s all motion censored.
Q) Please tell us about the premise of the show “Hannah Montana” and your character Oliver “Smoken” Oken.
A) It’s about a fourteen year old teen pop star who is living a double life. Her name is Miley, but it is Hannah Montana when she is the pop star. She hangs out with a few friends, which I play one of them named Oliver. She goes through life like a regular teen would while trying to live a double life!
Q) What made you want to be a part of the show?
A) The whole atmosphere really interested me! I’ve always wanted to work for Disney because it’s all kid oriented and fun. All of my friends watch Disney all of the time!
Q) Does the cast of “Hannah Montana” have a lot of chemistry off set?
A) Oh yeah! We all hang out all the time, especially Miley and I. Jason is a little bit older, but we’ll go into his room and write songs. He is teaching me how to play guitar.
Q) What was your most memorable moment from filming?
A) Oliver is the character that gets beaten up a lot and gets thrown over things. He gets splashed with water and things, too. I’d say one of the most memorable moment was from a scene that I did with Jason Earles who plays Jackson Stewart (Miley’s older brother on the show) where he is fixing the sink. I come into the room and talk with Miley for a moment when the sink suddenly explodes with water going everywhere in the house. I get soaked! The audience got to see that because we shoot in front of a live audience! That was pretty funny!
Q) Why should viewers take the time to tune in to the show?
A) I think that everybody can relate to it in some way and it’s all about a family. It’s a hilarious show with an amazing cast. The ratings have shown it to be pretty good and it was one of the tops for Disney. I think it’s truly one of the funniest shows.
Q) You’ll be starring in the soon to be released film Monster House. How was working with director Gil Kenan?
A) It was great! He’s still only like twenty-five or twenty-six years old so he is still kind of a kid at heart. He was so much fun to work with for me and the other kid stars. Since it is an animated film we’d have reflectors all over us. Sometimes, he’d take us out of the studio and go eat at In-N-Out Burger with all of these dots all over our faces and wet suits on. It was really fun and it was great working with him.
Q) What is it about animation recording that made it so appealing?
A) It is new technology so it sounded really cool to work with! To work with motion capture is like working with the latest technology so that sounded amazing. I didn’t really understand what motion capture was until I went in and found myself, two hours later, with dots all over my face and a wet suit on. I, also, got to work with Jon Heder, which was probably one of the greatest things in my life. He played in Napoleon Dynamite and I love that movie! I got to work with a lot of cool co-stars and that was extremely fun! Every person that I worked with was nice. Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hara, Kathleen Turner, Steve Buscemi, Nick Cannon, Kevin James, Jason Lee, Maggie Gyllenhaal and so many others are in the film! I’ve seen tons of things that they’ve been in and this was the main big thing I’ve done in my life, which was amazing!
Q) What do you do in your spare time?
A) I am just a kid looking for girls! I also skateboard, which is one of my favorite things to do. My older brother just got himself a car so we drive around and get something to eat by ourselves, which is fun.
Q) What is your latest obsession? A book? A sport? A film?
A) Mainly, I’m into skateboarding. I love to skateboard! My older brother is a really big musician and all he does is write music and play guitar. He’s amazing! Him and Miley’s older brother have been writing songs and I like to make music with them.
