Mom – Big Pillows and a Ball of Fire

The episode opens with Bonnie (Allison Janney) and Adam (William Fichtner) enjoying post-coitus bliss. She thinks he has been reading Cosmo and he makes a joke about it and tells her Mitch is coming to town. She reminds him that he hit on her and Christy, peed in their salad bowl and other places that were not the bathroom and caused a whole bunch of problems. He says she is a changed man and divorced Leanne. She wonders why he waited until she had a decent orgasm (that he said caused her to practically levitate) to tell her and that they need another round of sex. So, she accepts this and forgives him.

Bonnie tells Christy (Anna Faris) about Mitch coming. Christy doesn’t get it, but Bonnie reminds her it is only one of them because he divorced Leanne. They say they are shocked it didn’t end in a murder-suicide and they go together like water parks and diarrhea.

Adam and Mitch (Bradley Whitford) arrive. Christy tries to escape, but Bonnie says she promised Adam five minutes before they go to a meeting. Mitch says he owes them an amends and begs for their forgiveness…while crying. They agree it is painful for him to give an amends and want him to keep going. He says he wants to repair the damage and wants to go to a meeting with them. Bonnie is impressed he is actually crying real tears. Adam wants to know what happened to bro time and Bonnie reminds him he promised not to say that.

At the diner Mitch is telling the ladies about his journey and career. He thanks them for their support and says Leanne couldn’t get sober, which led to their divorce. Jill (Jaime Pressly) and Wendy (Beth Hall) seem smitten with him, especially Jill after he pays for their food. They notice he has a black card and Bonnie asks if he can get a Ferrari with it. Mitch says it would be rude not to.

At the bar, Mitch offers advice to help the bar do better. Bonnie suggests making him an investor, especially after he suggest installing TVs with sixty second TED talks in the bathrooms. Mitch agrees to help and they go into business together. Bonnie lets them have bro time.  Adam quips that he should do a TED talk on how to make Bonnie not be pissed off. Mitch lights a marijuana cigarette. Adam says that he thought he was sober and Mitch says he is “California sober.”

Christy tries to take Mitch’s advice to meditate, but her mind won’t shut up. She hears random music, convinces herself she has knee cancer and hears her 7th grade Science teacher.

Adam and Bonnie look over stuff for the bar. Bonnie thinks the logo looks like a penis. She also tries to convince him to buy her a necklace, but Adam says they need to focus on the bar and then they will get a smaller version. They also agree they are grateful for Mitch’s help.

At the meeting, all the ladies except Wendy see a penis in the logo. She wants to see a penis, too, and gets leered at by some dude named Barry. Bonnie tells him to go away. Christy tells them about her issues with meditating. Bonnie admits she slept with the Science teacher and Christy missed nothing. Jill says she relaxes and takes a nap as her form of mediation.

At the bar Mitch is drunk, but the bar is full. Mitch wants to know what happened to California sober and Bonnie says it isn’t real and why wasn’t she informed that he was smoking pot.

Christy finally meditates…but is interrupted by Leanne (Nicole Sullivan). Leanne says she tried texting Christy, who says she never gave her her number and that her name isn’t Theresa. Leanne is drunk and Christy thinks she got drunk from her hug. She also got there by showing her cab driver her boobs….”a BOOBER ride.”

Back at the bar, Mitch admits he was never sober. He just wanted Bonnie to like him. She ends up ripping his sweater, which was a gift from Stanley Tucci. Adam comes in and says Mitch told people drinks were on the house. Mitch says something about hookers while a brawl breaks out in the bar.

Leanne beats up some guy she thinks is Mitch. Then, she hits on him. She also hits on Adam before going back to Mitch and asking him to help her make a baby. Christy quips that she is jealous of them and wonders is that wrong?

The episode ends with more post-coitus bliss between Bonnie and Adam….until he tells her Mitch’s check bounced and they have more sex.
