Mom – Lumbar Support and Old Pork

The episode opens with Christy (Anna Faris) and Bonnie (Allison Janney) in the kitchen. Christy asks Bonnie to get the milk. Bonnie opens the fridge and is shocked to find it stocked with food. Christy tells her to open and close it again to see if it was real. They wonder where it all came from since Christy only has four dollars until next week minus the two Bonnie took. Christy goes to the fridge and is excited to see strawberry jam with seeds.
Adam (William Fichtner) comes into the kitchen and reveals that he bought the food because he was sick to coming over and having no food in the fridge. Christy calls dibs on the jam…and the bread. Bonnie worries about how much he spent and he tells her not to worry. She points out that he got fancy beans…with a pop top. Christy is excited, but Bonnie thinks he is showing off.
At the diner Christy asks the waitress (Chiquita Fuller) about the fruit, causing the waitress to ask if they have to do this dance. She orders a burger and fries. Bonnie gets a side of mayo. Jill (Jaime Pressly) asks if this is a new diet because she looks good. Bonnie says that she is on the eat the food in the fridge before it goes bad diet. Christy quips that Bonnie had a turkey leg and cherry tomatoes for breakfast. Bonnie gets on her case for eating yogurt that still had a week to go.
Tammy (Kristen Johnston) says she usually likes these fights but doesn’t get this one. Christy explains that Adam got them food. Bonnie says she will be damned if she lets it go bad and gives everyone a banana. Marjorie (Mimi Kennedy) thinks it is great and Bonnie shushes her. She then tosses salt behind her and gets some on a baby. Wendy (Beth Hall) doesn’t get why Bonnie is upset and Bonnie tosses more salt, which gets on the baby. Jill says the baby smiled and says the stupid baby thinks it is snowing.
Bonnie says she doesn’t want him going crazy. Christy says he just got food. Bonnie says he also got running shoes. Her complaining is interrupted by Tammy getting a text from Yuri. He is holding a cat, which Marjorie loves. It belongs to his cousin Sergei, who is single. She offers to set him up with Christy, who says yes and all but twerks on the table according to Jill. They agree to meet on Friday, but Bonnie says they have to eat the pork by the 17th. Christy says she hasn’t touched a man in ten months and will risk eating old pork.
At the dinner Christy is impressed with Sergei (Konstantinos Lavysh) about him moving to America. He admits he gets homesick and Yuri (David Meunier) says he puts an ice cube down his pants and tells him to snap out of it. Christy asks how he learned to speak English and he credits “Law and Order” SVU.” They begin quoting the opening scene and Tammy is delighted that they are hitting it off.
The guys go get dessert while the girls relax and chat about how great the guys are. Christy doesn’t want to jump the gun but Tammy says they can have a double wedding. The guys bring in dessert and say they are like the three musketeers, but there are two. The doorbell rings and Sergei goes to answer. He yells at someone and then comes back into the room with two guys with TVs. Christy is nervous because she thinks he is fronting stolen property.
Adam drives Bonnie out in his car. She complains about his new hat and he tells her to be nice because he has a surprise. She hates surprises and continues to complain, especially when he went to the ‘fancy car wash’ where he got the hat. He says he was in line with the queen and then tells her she needs to get over the fact that he is making money.
He takes her to the car dealership where her ex son in law Baxter (Matt Jones) works. It turns out Adam wants to get her a new car. She objects, but he points out that her’s is falling apart. Adam tells Baxter she is super surprised and super mad. Baxter shows her the car, but Bonnie is still upset and doesn’t want the car. The men worked out a payment deal, but Bonnie still won’t stop complaining. She storms out and the men decide to get high.
At the bistro Christy rises to talk to Taylor the waitress, who says she can talk not that her friends aren’t here. They have an awkward conversation until Tammy comes over glowing about her afternoon delight with Yuri. She gives Christy an Apple Watch from Sergei. She says it could be stolen and tells Tammy this is a dangerous situation because of her past. Tammy tells her there is nothing to worry about and goes to leave, but decides to stay and eat because she made love for three hours.
Bonnie comes home, mad over the car and complains to Christy who is eating shrimp. Bonnie finally says she thinks the spending is tempting the fates.
Adam comes home and says he doesn’t want to fight and says there s no point in making money if he can’t treat his family. Christy is touched that he thinks of her as family. Bonnie confesses her worries to Adam, who tells her to trust him. She agrees and he gives her the keys to her new car. She is upset and they toss the keys back and forth until it hits Christy in the head. She goes to return it, while Adam leaves in a huff and Christy acts dramatic over being hit.
Christy goes to see Yuri and tells him about the fight. They talk a bit and she tells him her worries about the stolen property and how living with Sergei can get Tammy in trouble. She goes to leave and he asks if he should tell Sergei he stopped by. She says she isn’t on parole so why not?
Bonnie goes to the car dealership to talk to Baxter and return the car. She admits her fears and he said he felt the same way when he met Candace. He is used to having nice things now and says even if it goes away then it was nice while it lasted. She realizes she is getting in her own way and he tells her to enjoy it while it’s here. As he talks he eats a jelly donut and makes a mess.
Tammy confronts Christy about her talk with Yuri. It turns out he broke up with her and now Tammy is upset. She thought they were friends and says she is going to talk about this in her share. Christy says she was just trying to protect her.
The episode ends with Adam and Bonnie singing in the new car. Adam is delighted she loves the car and new upgrades. She says she might have to live in it one day.
