Q) How would you describe your sound?

A) I don’t believe in classifying and putting labels on everything, but since people are calling me “America’s Next Pop Icon” I guess I’ll have to acknowledge that I am a pop artist. [laughs] My goal is to create art that’s different, innovative, exciting and maybe even, at times, nostalgic.

Q) Who are some of your musical influences?

A) I try to study the greats to become greater so I look up to legendary artists like Michael Jackson, Prince and Ozzy Osbourne. I’m also a huge fan of 2000s pop and K-Pop.

Q) Talk about what made you want to record “God Rest Ye Merry, Gentlemen.”

A) It’s one of my favorite Christmas songs, along with “Carol of the Bells.” I guess you could say I naturally lean toward the darker side of holiday music.

Q) How did you come to collaborate on it with Kate Todd?

A) I watched Kate on Disney Channel in shows like My Babysitter’s A Vampire and Life With Derek and I knew she sang so I thought it’d be fun to work with her. If you want the real answer, I think she’s very talented, but I also had a little crush on her. We considered a few artists for the project but Kate ended up being the perfect fit.

Q) What made producer Valentin someone you sought to work with on the song?

A) Working with Valentin has been amazing. He’s such a cool guy. Val produced a Christmas album I really like for a band called Push Play so I asked him to work on this project and I think we came up with something really unique. He and I bonded a lot during the making of this record and I look forward to working with him much more in the future.

Q) What do you think it is about the song that makes it a holiday favorite?

A) When Kate first heard one of the rough mixes, she used the word “haunting” to describe it. I think “God Rest ye Merry, Gentleman” is one of those songs you can play over and over again and never get tired of hearing.

Q) What can fans expect from a live Nicholas Tetreault performance?
A) I have no plans for touring at the moment, but when I do fans can expect an energetic show that is inventive and spellbinding.

Q) Can we expect an EP, LP or an album soon?
A) Definitely expect new music soon. I’ll be back in the studio after the holidays. I’m also working on film/television projects.

Q) Who would you most like to collaborate with on a song in the future?

A) Right now I really like Pentatonix. They’re way too underrated. I think it’d be fun to do something with them. Mitch’s high notes are showstopping. I also like Taemin, an artist from South Korea.

Q) What can fans do to help promote your music?

A) Word of mouth is the best way to spread the word so tell your friends about me.

Q) You are a part of social media. Why is that such an important way for you to connect with your fans?

A) Absolutely. My favorite social media platform is currently Twitter. I spend a lot of time reading and replying to DMs from fans. Social media makes the world seem a lot smaller and has the potential to bring people together.

Q) What would you like to say to everyone who is a fan and supporter of you and your work?

A) Thank you for believing in me and my art. Without you, there is no me. I love you! Happy Holidays!
