Night Court – A Crime of Fashion

The episode opens with Abby (Melissa Rauch) talking about her love life to Gurgs (Lacretta) and Wyatt (Nyambi Nyambi), which leads to Gurgs bragging about dating a duke.

As Abby continues to moon over her lack of a love life, a famous guy named Martini (Kunal Nayar) comes in through the window to escape the paparazzi. He hits it off with Abby before continuing his escape, leaving a shoe behind.

Court begins with Wyatt teasing Olivia (India de Beaufort) about a stain on her shirt due to dry cleaning issues.  He is also super into Fashion Week, which is happening that week.

Dan (John Larroquette) is getting hit on by a magazine woman named Erika Ellis (Jenifer Lewis), who is on trial for attacking a bird and violent outbursts. Dan says he needs more time with her, so they decide to reconvene tomorrow….but not before she has a moment with Gurgs.

Abby and Gurgs talk about Martini, who is actually hiding in the office. He is actually a fashion designer being hounded by the press. He and Abby flirt and agree to go on a date(after discussing pizza shirts to hide pizza stains)…with Gurgs helping. After he leaves, Abby wonders if it is going to work out, but Gurgs tells her to take a chance.

Back in the cafeteria, Olivia convinces Dan to help her with her dry cleaning. He agrees, but tells her to leave because he is meeting with Erika. While they are talking, he accidentally gives Olivia’s clothes to the homeless. She agrees to show him the ways of the finer world. He agrees and decides to put on sunglasses to look less likable, since it was getting him into trouble.

As this happens, he takes the wrong bag and ends up with donations to the homeless, despite being warned by the woman in charge. (Sarah Baker)

As Wyatt works the headset and acts like he is at Fashion Week, Abby and Martini enjoy their date in the cafeteria. They talk about designing food based clothes, which will hide stains. They end up kissing after she rescues him.

The next day, Abby shows up at work happy and swooning. Gurgs realizes she had sex and they squeal in delight. Martini shows up with flowers and says his designer block is over. He wants to make her clothes and she agrees since she has modeling experience. After he leaves, Gurgs tells her this is a weird situation.

Wyatt and Gurgs are in the cafeteria (with him wearing a headset to seem more important) when Dan comes in, worried about the clothing mishap…which people are wearing in court. As he wonders what to do, Olivia walks in, covered in paint from animal rights activists. He gives her the clothes and asks for money.

Abby is worried about the design Martini made her, which she shares with Gurgs. They talk about what to do when Martini comes in. They talk about the dress, leaving her to wonder if it will look better on….it does not.

Dan and Erika prepare for the case when Olivia comes in wearing one of the outfits Dan got by mistake. As they fight, Gurgs announces Abby’s arrival in the outfit Martini designed, describing it down to the feathers and headpiece.

Erika rants about being on trial, the fashion and the bird that Erika threw a phone at. The commotion causes Abby  to be attacked by the bird and Gurgs tasing him,

Later on, Gurgs and Abby talk about Martini. They agree it won’t work out….as does Martini who is hiding in the office again.

Gurgs shows off her new fashionable outfit as Wyatt assists Erika, who is on her way to a party. Abby asks to go, but after being rejected, decides to go because she is a muse.

The episode ends with Olivia trying to get her clothes back, but ends up becoming a hero to the women at the shelter.
